Matsuno had nothing at all to do with the decision to genderlock Viera

Wasn't sure if this had been posted here yet, and I thought we needed another topic about male viera:

This is all on Yoshi. :v Can't say it was the result of Matsuno wanting to preserve the lore or anything like that. I knew my boy Matsuno wouldn't do me like that and people shouldn't have been trying to shift the blame onto him. So let's spare Matsuno our wrath.

Yup, it's good to see that Matsuno himself is aware of the issue. Hopefully that gets the right people moving.

Q38: In terms of new races, what kind of races are you looking into and will mixed races be introduced?
A38: I don’t think we’ll have mixed races for a while. Since it seems like Viera is popular around the world we have been proactively looking into this, but since having a rabbit male might be kind of weird, maybe we’ll look into having a separate race for the male counterpart.

I still got mad respect for Matsuno so never thought he had any blame in this decision, nice to see it confirmed, too. This was all hanging on that "I think Male Viera would be weird" from years ago, which is problematic in and off itself.

well, I guess we will just have to drown the forums until Yoshi changes his mind

I really dont understand the logic behind a male rabbit race being weird but a male cat race not being.

I wouldn't blame yoshida, honestly I'm more suspicious of the CEO who has had a hand in both XV and KH 3 being borderline extended DEMO's of games. Noticed how he started showing up at fanfests the moment XV seemed to be dying? and was there to promote BLU(with a costume that didn't even match the in game model)

I'm actually gonna agree with this, I think it was a higher-ups decision rather than the team at large. I would've also speculated they were trying something different as well, but the higher ups getting more involved seems to be the case seeing as we are only getting two classes one being a tank and one being a DPS, rather than the third being a healing class, it makes me feel like they are being rushed to get Shadowbringers out as soon as possible. But we will see, I'm still looking forward to the expansion.

The issue is that if it is a higher up, then the only option we have is the one we're taking. We can't possibly know, so we have to pressure the person we know has the most authority so they can redirect that pressure to the one who has ultimate authority over them.

Thank you. I thought it could be a legit reason but its good to see Matsuno shining light on the matter. :)
