FFXIV Causes hard reset
I recently started playing FFXIV again and am having an issue where my system will hard restart with no bugcheck (bsod) or errors thrown. This only happens in FFXIV or when running the FFXIV Stormblood benchmark. I have updated the following
Graphic drivers
BIOS
Adjusted power settings
nothing seems to work.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
EDIT: I have been able to run this with DX 11 compatibility switched off. I am running DX12. However I would like a fix to this issue, I should not have to turn off DX11.
Below is my system output.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV
So when you load the game, does it immediately cause the computer to restart? You mention in another thread there is no error message, so what are you doing in game at the time of the forced restart? Does the computer freeze? Also when did this start occurring?
Hope to see you online!
-
The system completely reboots with no bugcheck (bsod). This also happens when running the stormblood benchmark. However I am able to play the game by limiting the frames to 30 from 60 OR disabling DX11 compatibility.
These crashes occur when porting from one zone to another or even when logging into the game.
This does not occur in any other game but FFXIV.
-
It appears that I spoke too soon. I had FFXIV set to limit frames to 30 and this seemed to work for about 1.5 hours, however in a cut scene the reboot happened again.
-
FYI I have opened a ticket with support about this issue.
-
Thank you for the reply.
Does it crash only on Direct X 11? You mention that you can run the game on Direct X 12, but do you experience any issues on DX 9? Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game completely?
Hope to see you online!
-
I had this happen a few years ago to me, only solution i had was to get a new CPU because FFxiv had overheated my old one a bunch causing it to become permanently damaged. Once i got the new cpu never had the problem again.
-
I attempted to uninstall/reinstall but I am not confident that it completely removed the game as it took less than 5 seconds to say "uninstall complete".
Also support told me that my GTX 960 was not recommended for use with DX11 so they told me to use DX9. However I have never had this issue with any other game in the past or with FFXIV in the past. I am not happy with the work around of using DX9 when my system exceeds all of the recommended settings for running the game.

You likely have automatic restart enabled.
It's a function that makes Windows instantly restart the PC the moment it detects what it determines to be a critical error, but this has the side effect of preventing it from actually logging what caused the error in the first place.
I was also having this issue, and it turned out my GPU was crashing due to driver conflicts. Had to downgrade to a stable Nvidia driver and update my motherboard drivers to make things work again (For now...).
