Can you switch physical to digital?

I have the disk copy of the base game, but i would like to get a digital copy. I've seen some people saying there is a way to download the game for free on PS4 store and just use that digital download with your login information, which will mean no longer having to use the disk. Is this true? Anyone know anything about this?

I bought the physical PS4 disc, and I'm now using it digitally.

When I first inserted the disc, it prompted me to delete the digital copy that I had previously installed (from the free trial), so I did that and it installed the disc version.

Then I went to register the code on PS Store, and when I did that, it gave me what looked like a download link. So - a little fuzzy from memory here, but - I tried to download it and was told that I had to delete the disc version.

So I did that, removed the disc from the console to be sure, and typed the code into PS Store again.

This time it let me download the digital copy, and it has never asked for the physical disc since.



Also check to see if it's already in your library of downloadable games. (I can't rememeber exactly where to find that, and always have to dig around a bit when I need it myself, but probably somewhere around PS Store or maybe in the top row of icons.)
