The ability to re-watch cutscenes is nice, but...

...could it be more consistent in which cutscenes can be watched? And could it include non-cutscene conversations too? There has been at least two cases where I've been forced to watch a cutscene from youtube after skipping it.

The first time was early on in the Stormblood storyline. I was queueing for something on duty finder and playing the MSQ on a different class. I forget which exact quest it was but I had entered the East Aldenard Trading Company headquarters in Kugane and was in the middle of a conversation there when DF popped. To be able to change my class and accept the queue I skipped the rest of the conversation, thinking I'd be able to watch it again through the book. Nope! Apparently those non-cutscene conversations where you retain control of the camera are not available.

Yesterday I found out that not all of the actual cutscenes are available either. I had queued for leveling roulette on my Lv67 RDM and was given an 18-minute estimated queue time. I was doing other stuff while waiting and eventually forgot about the queue altogether. I happened to be in Kugane again and saw the map marker for the final conversation of the Hildibrand quest Good Swords, Good Dogs so I changed to my Lv70 WHM to be able to do it. Lo and behold, DF popped in the middle of the cutscene and informed me of the incorrect class. This is an actual cutscene without camera control so surely I can watch it later, right? Nope! For this quest there are only two cutscenes available, one of them being the encounter in the Ruby Sea and the other being the "episode end" sequence. Watching the quest from Youtube it looks like a lot of other cutscenes were missing from the book as well.

So, why are some cutscenes missing from the book? Not knowing beforehand which cutscenes are available on the book and which are not greatly diminishes its value. If it's not possible to add everything to it, could we at least have the ability to manually cancel a cutscene and restart it from the beginning later? A DF pop can already cancel cutscenes if you're on the correct class to accept it. Closing the game cancels cutscenes, but that also makes you lose the DF pop so it's not usable here.

I cant tell you more, we dont have explicit details. But this will be a thing in 5.0, we will be able to replay MSQ. Wait for more info at JP Tokyo FanFest, 23th March.

Well with shadowbringers new game+ is going to be a thing, which might be a way to go back over the stuff you missed. We haven't gotten too many details on it though so I don't know what you'll be able to pick and choose or if you'll have to literally replay it all to get back to it.

Sure, if it allows me to replay a specific quest it would solve the problem. But I wouldn't want to replay the entire MSQ from Lv1 just to re-watch one cutscene from a Lv70 quest.

If I recall back in ARR the hard and fast rule for cutscenes in the inn was that if it had a dialogue prompt we had to toggle, it couldn't be rewatched. I'm not sure if that's held true since then, as I try to either watch the cutscenes if I can or just stop caring if a certain side story doesn't interest me anymore; but at one point there was some consistency to it.

Also in regards to NG+, frankly I'd rather they just copy LoTRO's Reflecting Pools. Each zone in LoTRO, at least last I played, has them, and you can replay most quests through them though like the cutscenes in FF there were a few that were inaccessible regardless. That or give us a combination of NG+ and the Reflecting Pools for those of us who just want to replay certain quests and not the whole story again.

What is also missing (and I don't think that we will be able to replay them) are the cutscenes from Heavensward when you change zones. I missed some of them due to DF pops as well :-(

the fact that they stopped giving ANY form of summary for all but a select few MSQs in the archive makes this even worse. I absolutely refuse to skip any cutscenes because of that.

Me as well. And after these experiences with the cutscene book it may well be that next time I'll just decline the DF and watch the cutscene instead. I can always queue again, even if it means waiting some more.

Basically, because there are too many.
If they wrote a more cohesive story, with less useless talking, it would need less (botched) cut-scenes.

The cut-scenes that can be re-watched are more or less the "high quality" ones. When you have a cut-scene where the characters are moving like Lego, it probably can't be rewatched.

NG+ sounds like it could be awesome for those who want to not only redo some fights but also rewatch some cut scenes. Yet, because they haven't really said anything about it this could screw these people over by not allowing you to casually going through the story again. In that it would lock you out of being able to progress with current story. That's my biggest fear in how this will work as I want to say they already said you'd have to start from the begining.

When the final parts of Hildibrand come out I'm going to do my best to not be in que for anything as I've had to skip stuff because I'll get a very long que and think hey I can do some Hildi. Nooooope
