Very tough to make GIl as a DoL atm

I have been looking through the items, as I have come back to leveling my DoL, working on my Landking gear.

I remember I used to make a lot of gill off Aethersands, so I looked that up, now you can get it from Scrips so prices for that are in the garbage. (Aldgoat skins are worth the same amount....) Exception being Duskglow whis a stack of 99 for 1 mil, but that is a lot of dusk glow. Might have to go with those tho.

So I looked up some of the Mats from the books, all garbage nothing really good.

I guess because we are nearing expansion things are slowed down?

Been trying to make a little gil to save up for a house when everyone leaves the server, but having a hard time making very much.

Maybe I am missing something?

Not all aethersands are available with scrips though.
Reason they they are cheapish is that there isn't the huge demand for them anymore. Main use was the crafted gathering /Crafting gear and the 380 combat gear. Most people have them by now.
We are currently also in the pre expansion slow with a lot of people unsubbing till shadowbringers.
I bet you will make a pretty penny after expansion hits

They should make fishing more valuable again.

This is a general issue in all games before a new expansion comes. The majority of the gear has been made/bought and there is alot of excess. Since most of it never leaves the economy, things are saturated.
Either find the things that are always in demand (get used up) or I guess its time to wait for the new expac

Yes, everything is slowed down, but you can still make gil gathering.

If you have your crafting VI books look up what is needed for Shakshouka, Matcha, and the grade 3 infusions.

Other than that, all the useful SB node materials still sell, just slower and for less. Way less, but they still sell.

I also find it hard to make money from DoL items, but that's mostly because the market is oversaturated with pretty much everything, and sometimes you find one thing that's in low supply so you go grab a bunch and after you put it all up for sale the price gets driven down by 20 other people who had the same idea. People don't understand that you don't have to undercut each other by 1000+ gil each time.

I end up spending gil to level both DoH and DoL (daily turn ins) jobs; is doesn't help that I want to level all of them. I wonder... is it worth it in the end?

That depends on what youre asking. Are you asking if its worth spending money to level them faster? Or is the question whether leveling them at all is worth it? And ultimately, only you can answer these questions. I like being able to make things for myself and my friends. Im also fairly cheap. So being able to gather my own mats and make the things i want is 100% worth it to me. I chose not to spend gil on faster leveling, so it ultimately took me a little bit to get everything to cap. Someone whos goal is to make more gil would also want everything leveled eventually(whether markets are tight right now or not, eventually theyll loosen up and the gil will flow freely). A completionist would likely be bothered seeing 11 classes not leveled up. Back to the question of whether its worth it to try and speed up the process, that depends on what the goal ultimately is(and how much money you have to work with). If youre the completionist who just wants to do it so that its done, then the extra time doesnt matter at all. If youre trying to make money, then hitting a certain level by a certain point makes a ton of sense(for instance, being able to make furniture in time for the server transfer window when some houses should free up on most of the servers and therefore put some new buyers into the furniture market)... and at a minimum being leveled and ready to go for the expansion(the likely next BIG money window).
