Will I like this game?

So, me and my partner were looking up to pick a game to play and we decided on this one. My partner always loved raiding and she has been having fun with the dungeons thus far. I'm a crafter/gatherer and that is what I really like in games. This is why I ask this here.

Is gathering crafting valued in ff xiv? If I level up all crafter gatherers will I be able to make lots of gil and overall be valued due to the value I bring to the community? That is what I'm really looking for. Thank you all. I'm looking forward to be part of this community with all of you.

You can. It can take a bit of work and just know that to get the higher level materials and what not you'll have to do the story. Any time a new set of glamour gear or crafted raid gear comes out those tend to sell for a lot of gil. Along with food and potions people use while doing raids. Housing items can be a little hit and miss. Things like Aquariums, walls, floors, food that counts as furnishings and fish are also probably good money makers. Then there's all of the crafted minions and bardings for chocobo's. Try to have a geared fighting class so you can try and get the rare mats that drop from raids, primals and dungeon drops like manor varnish/wax.

Ive been playing this game for almost 5 years, do endgame raiding, work with a FC. I can tell you that the people in my FC that craft and gather are the most in demand at all times. If you only focus on crafting/gathering then you can easily become one of the wealthiest people.

That's nice to hear. I don't mind doing content. Indeed, I loved the story so far and I'm very patient. Actually, one of the things I'm enjoying in this game is how it is more slow paced than other games I played. I actually like to see the character develop and keep going and progressing. It's beautiful.

The crafting and gathering sort of have their own community which is kind of nice. Like you always meet the same people when going to gather certain nodes, etc..
Crafting always brings in money and gathering what you sell mostly goes to crafters so it works out well, lol
Myself like others i have been playing around 5 or so years and have also raided in the past, it is enjoyable.

I didn't log in for some time, so I wasn't able to see your replies. Hands in my heart in a big thanks to all of y guys who responded. Be well, I'm leveling botanist and loving it so far. Taking a bit slow and doing the story as well. Heavensward is pretty cool

If you need help leveling your crafters unlock the moogle beast tribe dailies. To do that you'll have to do every quest that pops in the churning mists. Glad you're enjoying the game still.
