What if every job had a specific "summon" unique to them?

So, I posed this question to my FC a few days ago, and thought I'd ask here to. What if each job in XIV had a "summon" unique to them? Sorta like how in XIII each character had a unique summon.

And since people seem confused, this is meant as a fun game, not something serious.

There are just two criteria:
1: as long as they were a summon at one point in the series or if they are a Primal in XIV they qualify. So someone could say Siren for one or Sophia for another and both work. But, someone like Tiamat or a Morbol does not.
2: sadly, Summoner and Scholar are off the table, as they already have specific summons in Bahamut and Lily(Seraph) respectively. Their Limit Breaks are the "literal" summoning of Bahamut's attack and Seraph herself.

But all other current jobs are up for debate. Which summon do you feel best represents each job?

No the only job that have any summons period is summoner and until summoner is made a real summoner hell no to anyone else getting summons

Are you suggesting this as some sort of "game" in the sense of... I dont know, matching animals or colours or Disney princesses with the jobs? Or are you actually thinking more in the line of actual gameplay and mechanics (like turning the paladin-LB into the summoning of... I dont know, Odin, perhaps)?

I would not want this to actually happen. But if this is just a fun theorycrafting exercise...

Paladin: King Thordan.
Machinist: Alexander I guess? Because mechanical?
Bard: Susano. he likes to party and bard play music and tell stories.
Warrior: Ravana. LIkes to fight, honroable warrior type.
Black Mage: Ramuh because destructive lightning.
Dragoon: Shinryu I guess because of the link to the dragon eyes.

Would have to think on the rest.

Summoning as LB animations could be kinda cool.

But as for jobs having a single summon as a flashy big attack that's in their rotation, they really need to think about giving Summoner more actual summons before giving anyone else summons. Sure, bahamut is the big kahuna summon, but there should really be more summoner flavor to the job than that.

PLD - Knights of the Round, you know, holy knights and all that
WAR - Ifrit, both angry and both red
DRK - This one is hard but I feel obligated to go with Sephirot :p
WHM - Lakshmi, I feel like she fits the elegancy of the job, plus both specialise in soothing your soul
AST - Tsukuyomi, the moon is kinda close to the stars? XD
MNK - Titan, big punch man with karate moves!
DRG - Leviathan, just look at the HW DRG gear lol
NIN - Ravana, dual wield vs quadruple wield
SAM - Susano, samurai turtle man
BRD - Garuda, since she kinda uses her feathers like arrows and BRD has some wind attacks
MCH - Alexander, machines you know
BLM - Ramuh, he's already holding a staff and everything
RDM - Shinryu, just like how Red Mage brings back elements of old jobs in a new way, Shinryu brings back elements of old primals in a new way

Blue Mage - Choco/Mog

I'm assuming you mean 'associate summons with jobs as a mental exercise' rather than introducing this into gameplay proper, which would not be a good idea.

Paladin: Knights of the Round (obvious knightly themes and all)
Warrior: Brothers (they use axes, two brothers are a major part of the WAR questline... why not?)
Dark Knight: Odin (has traditionally been associated with darkness and the Dark Knight job since FFIV)
White Mage: Alexander (Holy elemental summon)
Astrologian: Eden (space/heaven imagery association)
Dragoon: since Bahamut's taken, Midgardsormr or Mist Dragon.
Monk: Titan or Maduin (probably the summons that rely on their fists the most)
Ninja: This is the hardest one for me, but probably Phantom from FFVI (makes everyone invisible).
Samurai: Yojimbo (easily the most Samurai-themed summon in the series)
Bard: Siren (Do I need to say why?)
Machinist: Ark (of course they should be able to summon a transforming mecha)
Black Mage: Kujata/Kjata (uses fire, lightning, and ice) or Shinryu (again, multiple elements)
Red Mage: Phoenix (because rez mage)

What I believe you might be able to do out of this is easily add cost to the Summoner glamour system such that fancy egi glamour require a lot of work like completing objectives on other classes (level 80 Paladin = Alexander Egi/Demi).

I would however say two things on that. The first is that many summoner mains who have no interest in other jobs would find that design concept exceptionally frustrating and the second is I think you could design more compelling and related to the job itself content without doing the above.

Obviously just because I added cons to my own idea doesn't mean I think that's the only option but I do think that Summoner should be the focus of ANY standard (Levi, Ramuh, etc) primal/summon focuses in this game when on the topic of the player behalf. At least at this time. If Summoner already had a bunch of epic summons I'd probably not mind but as they don't I would find this.. just really annoying I guess.

Summoner: Please give me more epic summons like you might see in other MMOs, even your own game FFXI.

Maybe I would suggest not using summons one might think of normally instead. I mean you might have meant that already but just to be clear Leviathan becoming White Mage's primal for example is a big no to me, that goes to Summoner the job. However, if each job had a patron deity like Black Mage might have Rhalgr then I think it would be okay as that's not really what one would think of as a standard primal.

In fact I'd suggest changing the thread concept to the point of "What if every job had a specific deity" instead then. Obviously I'm not saying you need to, just that I'd be in favor of a thread like that while I'm very cautious of a thread on primals to things other than summoner. Maybe some jobs share a deity, and new ones could be added when we move to other lands but these gods of Men sort of thing (perhaps primals, perhaps they're not).

Could add a sort of unique deity system to the game, having quests and pilgrimages and rewards to fostering the god's will. Sort of a marriage of delivery and beast tribe mechanics. Some of the big tier rewards being able to call down gifts from the god's, like single player limit breaks.

Somehow Odin completely slipped my mind as a possible primal for Dark Knight despite all the parallels in the ShB marketing haha, good call!
