New Aetheryte Earrings

So I did some tinkering with the new aetheryte earrings because I wanted to see how it compared to other items.

Lv50: +21 Primary Attribute; +22 Secondary Attribute
While it's not bad, these stats are notably inferior to 120 accessories since they normally provide 34 stat points into secondary attributes. This is weird since I'm pretty sure the system treats it like item level 120 when you reach 50.

Lv60: +70 Primary Attribute; +59 Secondary Attribute
Once again, the stats seem a little tilted, maybe even more so than before since the accessory piece gives the proper primary attribute stats but fails to add enough points into the secondary attribute.

Secondary stats granted by Role:
Damage: Direct Hit
Tank: Tenacity
Healer: Piety

In Conclusion: The Experience bonus is the most important part about this piece of gear, but is easily dwarfed by the Ala Mhigan Earrings stat-wise prior to lv50 (it can even be used for disciple of land/hand) and gives very confusing stat lines at later levels.

I was getting 95 INT and 104 Direct Hit from this earring on a level 51 RDM. That's actually really nice!

It says that on the item because it's actually level sync'ing the stats, but if you look at your stats change on the character page when you equip the item, you can see their actual contribution. Unfortunately, you can only get the full bonus on the item only if you are lv70.

So you want them to not only give level and job appropriate stats at every level AND give a big XP boost, but be BiS at every level as well? Isn't that asking a bit much?

This is something you're not replacing while leveling and you're contributing in group content while leveling, so making it equal to the top tier of each level (especially 50 & 60) really isn't a horrible request in my opinion.

But you don't need the top tier in order to contribute. The top tier is something that should be earned. Those are pretty decent stats for those levels, not quite the top, but close to it and well above most gear at those levels. It's certainly good enough for leveling through those points. (If it had like i90 stats at 50 or i190 stats at 60, you'd have a point, but it's way above those.) Isn't the fact that they stay viable for so long plus give a big XP boost worth something?

Yes, it's worth pre-ordering. ;) The 50 & 60 top tier earrings are just a few dungeon runs so it's not like anyone's grinding for weeks to get them. I don't see the need to gimp the stats just because the xp bonus is there.

To be honest, I'd kind of just like the exp boost to not be just combat exp for once. Especially if they're combat class only.

Would be neat to get bonus exp from Beast Tribe Quests, FATEs and *Sigh* Deep Dungeons...

As well as Duty Roulette daily bonuses and Challenge Logs etc.

The Combat EXP only thing is honestly the main thing that weakens the earrings, rather than their slightly sub-par stats (Which, imo is made up by the fact that you don't have to get new earrings every 2 levels to keep your ilevel up which is getting pretty expensive these days with 60+ gear costing like 30k-50k gil each that's like 150k-250k gil just in earrings from level 60-68. More if you go for HQ from MB instead of vendor stuff)

That said, these will be nuts for BLU when they get their level cap increase in ShB. Given their massive increase to overworld combat experience isn't in the form of a multiplier so will be boosted significantly from the 30% of these earrings (Throw in rested EXP boost, the manual from Squadrons and some food and you're sitting at 213% multiplier for their insanely high base EXP gains)

"Earning" the stats is a bit of a joke. The work required to get BiS for level 50 is utterly trivial and most of us have gone through the process at least a few times by now. There's also nothing you can do to "earn" your way to pairing the best stats with the XP bonus, so it's a moot issue anyway.
