Possible new gear set combinations???

I don't post on here very often, but after recently coming back to the game I wanted to ask the community a question regarding gear sets. Fist off I am not the most avid mmo player but I slightly dabbled in FF11 and other than that FF14 has been the only mmo I've ever really gotten into. With the little time I did spend in FF11 I remember leveling up to lv15 as a white mage and I made it to the first area where people grouped together. I spent quite a bit of time there and I recall one time I was in a party and a fellow group member told me "You don't need to heal the tank". The tank seemed to have a unique set of gear that I'm not totally sure how it worked but either after dealing a certain amount of damage, or executing a certain group of abilities correctly his gear would heal him.

I didn't play FF11 for very long and I only saw this once but I never forgot how cool it was that his gear set had that additional feature. Do you think FF14 will ever have any gear like this where the player will have additional abilities beyond just higher stats?

No, as then like XI you'd have to have X set for X event and XIV has probably even more of an inventory space issue than XI does. Also unlike XI you can't access all of your other inventory areas on the go. The devs tend to aim for the ability to clear anything with any job or gear and outside of savage content you don't need to even care about what's thought of as bis.
