5.0 relic - personal wishes

Ok so we've seen in the new exp the whole "Warrior of darkness" theme will be prevalent.

My wish for the new relic would be that regarding its look it would match the "darkness" theme.

Make it "dark", gives us black gloom/aura, go for the colours of black/dark purple/dark blue.

In the past relics looked great but they generally where always more towards light colours.. especially with their "aura" (you know what I mean).

(not stating the way of obtaining, im very against Eureka, I prefer the older way better, but that is not the point of this thread)

I wish we will team up with Gaius and empire (at least what is left from it) and fight against hydaelyn and eorzeans, who want to commit homicide on all garleans in revenge, eorzeans could be the bad ones who summon eikons, primals and etc with hydaelyn power

Please Yoshi, make a bad guys out of good guys, take away that "warrior of light" from us.

Some of the weapons have had a darker look to them in the past. I'm thinking of the dark knight and black mage weapons from Heavensward, some of those steps were pretty dark.

Personally, I think each weapon should fit the idea of the job rather than the theme of the expansion while other weapons that get introduced can have the expansion theme. A good series of weapons likely to get the gloom aura treatment next expansion are the replica Tsukuyomi weapons. Additionally there's also that effect on Nidhogg weapons, and there's nothing saying they can't create crafter recipes for non-trial related weapons to be used for glamor purposes.

DRG's Longinus had a dark aura--which is odd considering it's considered to be a Holy Lance. Anyway, it depends on what storyline the weapons will 5.0 could be the FF4 sealed weapons (found on the moon)

Honestly I hope we get some more 'simple, but complex' designs for the next relic steps. I liked the effects from the Eureka weapons, but most of their designs were a little too much for me. Some unique effects to go along with it would be cool too. Maybe even some more subdued ones, where the effect is noticeable, but not overbearing like the effect on terpander lux.

I would like for the dark aura for DRK to not be red, but black/purple/midnight blue. Red is kind of bright. *_*

Aside from that, I don't have too many qualms about the colour of the glow, since it's usually themed after Job colours. Sadly for me, that means MNKs live with yellow. My issue is normally how busy looking the glow is, and in that department, less is more for me.

As for actual weapon design, I have no wishes one way or another.

Relics should have special abilities or unique skills like they did in FFXI. It would make them more fun.

IMO I'd like not just relics but maybe some other weapons from trials and such to possibly have some unique effect like many did in FFXI. Maybe trade materia slots for them idk. But then I'd also like set bonuses on armors as well.

Instead of a separate, cordoned off instance like Diadem/Eureka, and instead of a stupid tomestone grind at every step, I want the 5.x relics to involve exploring the world, new and old.

- Visit those old temples and ruins that are everywhere, learn the lore, and activate some node or two per zone as it relates to your weapon or job/role in some way.
- Acquire unique items by some method that isn't rng drops or tomestones, such daily quests set in the open world zones or in completing an optional objective in a dungeon.
- Complete a series of normal or hard mode trials with a special accessory or belt equipped, which acts as both a monitor of progress and provider of a random buff AND debuff (a trade-off effect basically), which will be minor in effect.
- A victory lap at the end that feels like a triumphant test of how much we've grown since starting the new relic weapons. Like, the item mentioned before? Bring it back at a higher iLV, with a combined effect while the relic is also equipped where the debuff is gone. OR, add a new trial, not attached to the Extreme mode content, that can be unlocked by the relic line--akin to Chimera and Hydra, but at the end--to act as a final challenge, and it can be queued into at any time such as Trials roulette or Duty Finder. Either of these.
- Give Gerolt a gods damned break this time. I know his bar tab is the proverbial dead horse we must keep beating, and Rowena's monetary tyranny must be upheld, but let's just... not. Let's move away from them for one expansion's relic line. For that matter, let's leave out the Allagans too. There were other eras, other societies in the game world's lore, not just in Eorzea.


Note: I'm aware the point of the thread is more about the look than the method. To the end of appearances, I'd want a good looking bow that glows purple, or a War axe that totally bedazzles in its kickass glory (again, bonus points for purple glow).

I'd like to be able to pick the glow colour.

Even if they can't get dying the glow to work they could at least let Gerolt have you select from a list of options.

Pyros Sword (Blue)
Pyros Sword (Red)
Pyros Sword (Black)
etc.

A special emote available when it's equipped/glamoured would be cool too.

Maybe like a glow off/glow on emote with 'glow on' making a big show of you coalescing aether out of the air or channeling it from your body into the weapon.
