Blood of the Dragon

So i have been playing dragoon awhile now and like it does when i'm on my blm it irks me when i loose blood of the dragon. It seems pretty obvious to me that drg needs an ability like transpose to refresh blood of the dragon or some how holds on to it. Too many damm mechs remove the monsters from hit boxes and we lose bod time and time again. When my blm encounters such a situation he transposes granted it isn't a full stack but all he has to do is either cast fire/blizz 3 or transpose again and he will not lose enochian. It is perfect no but it is a hell of a lot better than what we were cursed to do in 3.0 So i ask why can't drg get something similar?

Blood of the Dragon timer is VERY generous on its timer, if not the most generous out of all the jobs and where you would lose it, any jobs with a ressource that needs to be maintained will lose it too.
You have "Fang and Claw" and "Wheeling Thrust" to gives back 10sec each during your standard rotation.
"Sonic Thrust" gives back 10sec too during AoE spam.
Also, if you have your dragon eye fully opened, activating "Life of the Dragon" will give you a base 20sec cooldown if you had less than that on Blood (only do that as absolute last resort. Life of the Dragon should only be activated if you have 27sec+ on your timer, depending on Ping as you want 3 Nastronds per Life of the dragons)
Plus, once Life of the Dragon expires, you are back to your base 20sec Blood timer.

Also, using "Blood of the Dragon" again, even if your timer has not expired will refresh the timer back to 20sec and you'll keep the open eyes counter active.

huh? BotD is not hard to keep up especially in dungeons with trash packs considering your AoE rotation is designed to keep BotD up as well.

I concur with the others, Blood of the Dragon has been very friendly to so me as something I can pretty much always keep up.
(However, when tanks do countdowns, I like to turn it on when there's about 3 second left on the countdown, I get upset when they don't actually engage)

yeaaa it's gotta be 1 of the easier to maintain buffs out there.. if any buff needs to be easier to maintain it's mnk's stuff

While we’re on the topic, would it be best to spam Geirskogul between Life of the Dragon / Nastronds, or hold it at the ready until you can get three Nastronds off? I find myself holding back Geirskogul most of the time so that I don’t have to wait on it’s timer to launch a ready Nastrond, though I fear that may be slightly damaging my overall DPS.

Most of the BotD complaints have nothing to do with the timer. The annoyance is that eyes are directly linked to it and vanish when BotD ends. Aside from BLM and Foul, no other mechanic in the game works like that. Sen gets held forever. So do chakras, ninki, aetherflow, ammo, etc. A SAM comes out of a long phase change with all his sen and kenki intact, while DRGs have lost all their eyes and need to start over. That's what people don't like about it.

You have the right of it. DRG is the only job that both job resources being tied to a single timer. This would be fine if the benefit to be gained was huge in terms of giving us extremely high DPS, but DRG DPS is very middling compared to BLM SAM MNK RDM BRD. That said, I hope in the future they make the Dragon Blood gauge timer static and when time on Blood of the Dragon runs out, the gauge and all accrued Dragon Eyes remain but you simply lose the effect of Blood of the Dragon. This way, if the time runs out during long phases, you don't lose a ton. Even BLM, while they can lose their Foul charge if they drop Enochian, they can keep transposing to maintain the effect, DRG cannot maintain their eyes if they have nothing to attack. An easier alternative is to give Blood of the Dragon something like a 10 second recast but 20 second duration.

That being said, i can understand what the op is talking about. For example when doing my daily hunting, it happens quite often that the previous mob died so quickly that i didn't have the time to increase the blood of the dragon 20 seconds base buff duration. And that i did then lose it when reaching the next mob, while at the same time the 30 seconds botd cooldown isn't finished yet. In the end if i want to be sure to not lose botd i have to lure the mobs close to each other beforehand, because they seems often spaced in a way that makes you lose your buff, but at the same time not being able to relaunch it right away. A problem i dont have with my BLM who can keep enochian up eternally because transpose is on a way shorter cooldown than enochian duration.

Which is between 0 (Doesn't matter) and 29 (a foul)
