Missing Icons and Error Codes

Hello. I have a 1 week old iMac Pro with a Radeon Pro Vega 56 with 8GB of HBM2 memory. I'm connected to my Time Capsule Router and I'm getting HTTPS System Error Code -21 when I try and launch the game.

Also, the few times I have been able to log in, none of my icons will display, not even the ones in the System or Character Configuration menus. When I zone from place to place in the game, a few show up sporadically and they change from zone to zone.

I have also experienced frequent crashes while playing the game, wether I'm in an EX run, raid, or a zone w/o a lot of things happening.

I have tried reinstalling, been all over the Graphics, HUD, and display settings, and tinkered with my router but I can not resolve any of these issues.

Please help!

The Mac was fully updated before I launched the game. It is currently running macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6

The issues I have been having showed up months ago, Sep, Nov time frame on my old mac. I bought a new computer because my previous one was quite old and I thought that would resolve the issues. It hasn't changed a thing unfortunately.

I saw the notes for patch 4.5 and did not see anything about issues for Mac users being resolved. Is there a fix for this?

Since there has been no response to my thread and the comp issues have not been resolved, I’m canceling my subscription

I've had the same issue on the iMac Pro as well since I got it about a year ago. Icons appear at random, but most of the time aren't there at all.

Foxmind, I apologize in the delay to my response to this issue. Please try deleting the locally saved content. Also are you running the game at a high resolution? Please make sure you are running the game at a screen resolution of 1600x900. Running at a higher resolution may result in low performance.

I have already tried deleting and redone loading the game. Multiple times from the FFXIV support website. It doesnt work. I have even tried wiping and reinstalling the basic set up for my iMac. It doesn’t work. Nothing has worked. SE knows about this issue and there is no fix. SE has even put out a warning on their website on the MAC download page when you purchase the game, that this is happening. Nothing works, nothing fixes it. I can’t play the game at all.

Error code -21 constantly shows up when I try to launch the game. After 5-7 failed attempts, the game will launch. I have my settings at the standard default, and icons will still appear randomly or nothing at all. Even after that, the game crashes on me when I try to play a dungeon, raid, or trial. The game is unplayable. Period.

Error 21 can be encountered if there is an issue with the network. Please try the following trouble shooting suggestions:

- Update Safari web browser
- Delete ‘Browsing History’ and ‘Cache’ in the Safari browser
- Run the Apple Update program to check that all firmware is up-to-date on your Mac OS
