Gunblade job must be a DPS.

I have a feeling I'm gonna have a lot of hate for this but...

I'm an FF8 fanatic. Final Fantasy 8 is MY LIFE. And in Final Fantasy 8, which is where the gunblade is from, the ultimate gunblade ability (Lionheart), is an extremely damaging attack.

In FF8, there is no such thing as a tank. All 6 characters are DPSes, including Selphie (if only because of her "The End" ability). I think the gunblade's origin should reflect in FF14.

Not only that, it's a GUN-BLADE. It's both a GUN and a BLADE. It SCREAMS DPS.

Please please please, make it a DPS job. Let the devs introduce a new tank class but please make the gunblade DPS.

With Blue Mage dropping early, I think it's overly optimistic to expect more than two new jobs introduced in Shadowbringers, and they should really be a tank and healer. If a gunblade job ends up being one of them, between healing and tanking, I can only see them tanking. No new tanks/healers since HW is too long of a wait.

It's most likely going to be a tank and Dancer will be heals. A bit late to ask them to change so you can hope. I think personally we got enough dps jobs in 4.0 and with Blue Mage.

Blue Mage isn't a real job tho. So we can hope they are adding at least 3 jobs in Shadowbringers. I to hope the Gunblade job is a DPS. But if it's a tank I'll live. I just wont main it like I would have if it was a DPS lol.

Why do you want it to be a DPS? Gigantic swords and battle axes also scream DPS. Probably even more so than a gunblade. Optimal tanks also dish out respectable DPS. It kind of sounds like you just don't want to deal with tanking responsibilities while wielding a gunblade.

Giving the gunblade to a new tank is a surefire way to get players interested in it and into the roulettes.

From what I've read about the gunblade weapon type, this job could be either a melee or a melee/ranged hybrid fighter. If they are not tanks then they will probably be in the physical ranged dps role and occasionally enter melee range like RDM.

Perhaps it'll be a omnirole Job like Warrior and can tank, DPS and heal in equal measure.

Jokes aside, tank arguably has the most variety of toolkit for any role... Main reason I always figured Blue Mage could have been a tank, heck the level 2 Limit Break is already Mighty Guard (traditionally a Blue Mage spell), but stuff like Clemency, Divine Veil, Thrill of War, Equilibrium, The Blackest Night? If you ignore the traditionally broken Blue spells, I think the remaining could fit with what tanks already have in this game... Shame it had to be a Limited Job instead... I'd have liked Gunblader to be a melee DPS with ranged gimmick to share the Maiming set with Dragoon... Then again I'd also like Dancer to share the Scouting set with Ninja...

I've been waiting for a Gunblade job since ARR. While I would prefer it to be a dps it will likely end up being a tank. I'm ok with that. I just want my gunblade. I ended up as a tank in FF XI despite starting as a DRG. Gonna have to get used to it again.

I honestly expect we get just 2 jobs again, and far as I remember they said multiple jobs for SB too and we just got 2 jobs sooo...yeah.

I will say It's fair that It's now DPS turn to wait now, and tanks and healers turn to get new jobs, Gunblade tank and Dancer healer.

I'd have to agree - it'll more than likely be a tank. Or a hybrid of a tank/DPS.
