Queuing multiple jobs at once - reducing times and adding flexibility

Hi everybody -

New to the game and love it - have played many other MMOs and there are so many fresh ideas here.

I love the roulettes for queuing and thought of something I believe could make things even better.

So at first, I thought the way roulettes would work is you could queue for multiple jobs at once. Example - if I did a roulette leveling queue, it would queue me for all my jobs at once and select the one with the fastest queue

My FC explained to me that was in fact not how it worked, but you could only queue for one job. My question is why?

Imagine you have 8 jobs that are leveling accessible. Wouldn't it be better to have a checkbox where you could queue for as many of your jobs at once as you wanted, with maybe one more filter like prioritize role in need bonus (or even you could forget that if too complicated?)

The way I see it, a MMO's biggest challenge is how do we reduce queues for DPS. I believe part of the answer is allowing everybody to queue for as many roles in the trinity, and varied roles within that, as possible as once. This would increase the N size of roles in the queuing system and also add fun and variety to what job you would get each time you queue

One more thought is maybe you even would just change the bonuses for queuing so you would a bonus even just for adding a tank or healing class to the jobs you were queuing for whether it got selected or not just for putting yourself in the pool

That falls into the category of: awesome idea and theoretically possible, but probably never going to happen because of system limitations.

It's a fantastic idea but the DF just isn't set up to handle that. It would probably require a massive rebuild of the entire system to make it happen.

I also think this would be a fantastic idea. Typically I don't care if I'm tanking, healing, or DPSing, I just want to run the content (particularly when it's particular content like Alphascape, for example). I might prefer to heal, but I'll tank or DPS if needed....after all, I'm getting the same tokens no matter what role I go in as.

edit: Adding to this, I'd also love to see the ability to change classes within a role in a dungeon, even if only at the beginning. For example, if I'm on WHM and zone into a trial or raid and the other healer is also a WHM, I'd love to be able to swap to AST or SCH for some synergy.

I mean technically it's already possible by using the Party Finder and discussing your roles/jobs with other players before you queue for anything. Although I could see the boon of being able to queue up as multiple roles,. I don't think it will do much to actually solve the issue of long waiting times for DPS. Players just queue for whatever they feel like at the time and having a checkbox could just go ignored by them. At this stage I'd much prefer being able to queue as something, and if I decide to craft/gather do other stuff etc, then I don't need to switch to the job to accept the instance, the system automatically does it for me on entry. If this can be done.... then multi-job queue could work.

Now THAT would be awesome. It's always bit annoying when you end up doubling up on jobs (especially healers.) Can't I just switch to WHM or AST if I see a second SCH in the group? Please? (I know it'll never happen because of system limitations, but I can dream.)
