There were buddy passes distributed with the CE, but I don't know if they still work or how you might get one.
On the other hand, FFXIV can be obtained for $20 USD or less from Amazon or the Square-Enix official store, and comes with a 30-day trial. Since one month is $9.99, you essentially get the game for <=$10.
Basically, if they can afford the sub fee, they can probably afford to just get the game and try it out for a month.
Hi Korrok,
There is no free trial system at this time.
The Buddy Pass system is a bit different from Final Fantasy 11. A Buddy Pass comes with the Collector's Edition of Final Fantasy 14, grants 30 days of full access to game features, and serves as a full software purchase ($20 value).
My understanding is that there will be a trial version available around the release of 2.0, presently slated for October.
Buddy-Pass is a real account so pretty much giving you a real account and you don't have to pay for i think your friends should just go and buy the game to try it out if they don't like it then go on to the next mmo or wait for 2.0.
ok thanks for the info
If you plan to try 2.0 at all I would suggest buying it now while it's cheap. People who have already purchased the PC version of the game prior to 2.0 launch will be able to download the 2.0 client for free.
However if you wait til release, the price will likely go back up to the traditional $59.95 to purchase the 2.0 game disc.
