Entrust all crafting items to retainer at once option/Craft from retainer inventory.

Weekly I go through my bags and one by one look for crafting items to give to my retainer. It can be a slog...

Is there an option to click a button and deposit all crafting items at once to your retainer?

If not that would be a great addition.

Also the ability to craft from your retainer bags would be nice.

unfortunately that's not how the inventory system works. it would need a complete overhaul to do that. prob not gonna happen in this game.

I know it's not the inventory per say.... but the Doma Reclamation box is a good start of how to move multiple items in one go. Even if you could only select a limited number of items, it would be great to be able to move or even sell/purchase several things in one bulk exchange/payment.

Not sure about being able to craft directly from retainers but we should definitely always have access to the Chocobo Saddlebag to say the very least.

In what way is handing multiple items to your retainer any more complicated than adding things to the Doman-ation box? In both cases you can double-rightclick each thing you want to hand over to deposit many items quickly.

No one said anything about it having to be complicated or not. It's just idea to select multiple items and be able to confirm them before you transfer or sell them, and the framework is already in the game through a very basic Reclamation box or even player trading, simple. Also not everyone uses a mouse so no reason to mention that, and that would still be possible anyway so that method is not being suggested to be removed so you continue to do that if you prefer but perhaps some players just don't want to do everything individually, maybe consider that.

That's irrelevant though. Controllers have corresponding functionality. X->A is equivalent to double-rightclick.

There's no reason to select multiple things to transfer to retainer before confirming that you want to transfer them. The Domans limit how much you can donate each week; this is the only reason they need to have a special bulk delivery menu. Implementing such a menu for retainers would only slow down an already slow system by adding another confirmation dialog.

So again, I ask, in what way is putting items in the Doman donation box such an improvement over the existing two button presses required to transfer an item to retainer inventory (once that inventory is open) that dev time should be spent modifying the retainer interface to have a waiting area for you to put items in before actually transfering them to the retainer?

OP is not asking for a batch transfer worksheet. He's asking for a one-button solution to transfer all items of predetermined type without being asked what he wants to transfer.

As with most faults at design. Retainers suffer from overconvoluted interface and unnecesary systems that only drag the experience to a halt.

Netcode and inventory issues aside (which SE has being really smart to capitalize on) the whole retainer HUD needs a complete overhaul and the whole process needs to be streamlined and enhanced. For players with more than 2 retainers, hell, i had 8 at some point, visiting retainers to stock items, store them, changing prices, sending them into ventures, gearing them, etc, etc. Im playing FFXIV, not retainer manager 2018.

This game have massive programming flaws that equate retainers to instances. They are not extension of your inventory at all. Same with chocobo saddlebags (which is why they are not available at all times).

This is due to the underlying system being such a worthless piece of junk that it simply cannot cope up with it.

Go ahead and try this. Start fishing and try to discard an item. Simple, right?! Except not. It's impossible in this game.
Open a shop interface and try to target and inspect a player? Not possible.

This game takes everything in modules, separate from each other. It cannot do multiple things at all. It's archaic. And it won't change. Yoshida said that any larger overhaul, if ever, will take place in no less that about ten years from now. And that was in relation to graphics, I think, which are simpler thing that the whole underlying engine. So Square Enix consciously refuses to change it.

So...you can let your hope of having basic functions like properly functioning retainers die.

From my understanding, retainers are viewed as separate characters to the player. (I remember seeing it in the terms of service when I was first signing up - something about the player being in control of "one player-character and two NPCs".)

And the saddlebag has been specifically designed as something you don't have constant access to, so the game doesn't need to have it loaded all the time.
