Error when closing FFXIV
Hi all,
I was going to post this in the original thread but it has been closed. If anyone has an error like the following, this may help you.
"FINAL FANTASY closed because an error has occured
2018-10-29_17:58
KERNELBASE.dll+3A388
dxgi.dll+37705
dxgi.dll+31B8
dxgi.dll+2F84
dxgi.dll+3301
dxgi.dll+2FC7
d3d11.dll+3925D
d3d11.dll+27853"
This can be caused by a new Windows 10 feature. In mid November after a Windows update I started getting errors like this, It took me awhile to figure out how to fix it. It only occurred using Dx11 and in full screen. Reinstalling the game did not help or running in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
What ended up fixing the issue for me was turing off this new Windows feature called "Full Screen Optimizations".
To disable this Please find the "ffxiv_dx11.exe" and right click it and select properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.
After this change I can run the game again with Dx11 and in full screen with no errors.
I have read about others getting this same error or similar ones. I do not know if this will fix all of them. I Just wanted to share what I learned and how I got it to work for me in case it can help others.

Hi! I encountered the same problem after updating my windows 10 and nvidia gtx1050. FYI i decided to update my system because the game crashed out of nowhere (freezing screen and buzzing-freezing sound); but alas, I encountered another problem instead.
I tried to roll back the windows update, the error persisted.
I tried to rollback the driver update, the error persisted.
One thing that i noticed is that after i updated my windows, the game resolution changed by itself. It seems like the new update kinda mess with the screen resolution and stuffs. My FFXIV UI was getting smaller and IDK.
But luckyly after i did what you suggested, the error is gone. Hopefully I wont encounter something like this again in the future. I have reinstalled both windows and nvidia update to the latest version and the error message is no longer there after i close my game.
ps: my error messages appear whenever i close my game; be it on borderless or full screen window. There are two messages, the first one is the unexpected error with "kernel dll" and the second one is a fatal error. I haven't done any further tests after the issue was resolved. But ill keep you guys updated.
