How is SAM now?

It has been a year since I last played the game. So how is SAM now in terms of viability, popularity, meta/end game?

It's a powerhouse DPS whose only utility is a slashing debuff, so that didn't change. However, potencies got adjusted quite a bit to solidify SAM in a pretty high spot close to.BLM (the latter having been used in speedrun comps recently).

Samurai is still no trick attack NIN or piercing DRG, but it is pretty alright.

If the SAM know what they’re doing and don’t die then they’ll be fine to have around.

sam and blm are very close, depends on the fight .. and the proc amount / timing of blm (blm best pars ofc are runs with good procs, .
in a normal or weak blm proc runs, sam can keep up)

proc in meaning if "RNG procs" (not self induced with sharpcast)

and depending in the fight, means "RNG mechanics" and heavy movement or not

SAM is also still quite powerful in PvP.
