Grand company protection

How come you cant just join a GC like an FC and get bonus actions?

it would solve so many problems, as a player who just lucks out and joins fc's that are either dead, dying or spiteful i'd like a way to get some of those bonuses and such but without the fc runaround.

just let the gc be a big umbrella for those players you dont see matched to an fc so they dont get constantly spammed by invites, give us a place to belong yet still be those solo heroes we wanna be, let them use the credits to activate their own actions and maybe turn the squadron barracks into an area thats filled with items and lvling things based on your gc rank.

then include a few chat channels so those players can team up for content and such. the fc's are great if you can find one thats either active, has more than 3 people, isnt a numbers addicted slum or full of weirdos, seems that building out the gc's would be a great alternative.

Story reasons. Joining a GC means you have to obey commands from HQ and can't adventure, because you're a soldier. As a FC, you're a merceary and therefore a free agent, able to explore the world and travel without being bound to a commander.

Since everyone joins a GC regardless of whether they're in an FC or not, I'm not sure how well it would be recognized as an FC alternative for things like avoiding FC invite spam. But I'm in favor both of adding more useful stuff to the Grand Companies and of giving everyone access to all game features, regardless of whether they're in an FC or what rights their FC leader deigns to bestow on them if they are. (I run my own, virtually solo*, FC just because I'm no longer willing to let other players control what parts of the game I am and am not allowed to take part in.)

So moving things like the FC actions to the GCs sounds like a good improvement. Maybe the Grand Companies should also have their own workshop that you get access to once reaching a certain rank where you can do airship and submarine building and voyages (though perhaps with the housing items you can build left exclusive to housing workshops).



* note: by "virtually solo" I mean it's usually just me, since the only other player in my FC is a friend who's usually inactive except when there's a welcome back / free login campaign going on.

Interesting take on the story. So, as a Storm Captain in the Maelstrom, you no longer adventure? Because I still can, as a Serpent Captain in the Twin Adders.

You're the same as I am, i have a solo fc also, was going to get rid of it but when i realized how much I invested in it I just kept it,

I do like your ideas though it would really help those players who dont wanna start an FC just to get actions, admittedly a lone FC can be lonely sometimes.

Also, the GC story aspect doesnt quite work, because youre also a scion you get pretty much free reign on your actions, i consider the WoL more of a nations special agent than soldier.

If you want the FC action bonuses without the FC, then level up your adventurer squadron and have them go after those scrolls.

Yeah, I was going to say - you can get the FC actions from the GC, just not as easily.
