Would you be ok with no new tank or healer in 5.0?
One of biggest rumors going around is that there will not be a new tank or healer in 5.0 due to giving the dev team more time to balance the existing tank and healer jobs.
I know they will never go back to HW format with 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 dps, but I really wish they would go with that in 5.0
No, I will not be okay with being skipped again.
There wasn't a new tank or healer job for 4.0 because of balance issues... If they haven't sorted them out by now then wtf are they doing?
I am fine with that. As long they manage to dish out better content for everyone.
They had all of 4.x to balance tanks and healers yet didn't. In fact, we're exactly where we left off in Heavensward except Dark Knight and Paladin switched spots. Warrior is a god king at everything, albeit less so than in Heavensward while Scholar dominates the healer scene yet again. White Mage, while better, still lags severely behind Astro—ironically even in healing and DPS not just raid utility.
They had two years to figure this all out and didn't. It's rather a hard sell to say wait another two years for new tanks and healers because of balancing. Maybe if they actually overhauled the jobs so Warrior and Scholar didn't have an answer for almost everything. But their "overhaul" in Stormblood was slapping a bunch of job gauges on everything and calling it done.
Not really, I want a new healer. I wouldn't quit without it, but I'd be pretty peeved. I'd also continue to laugh at the DPS queues.
If we don't get a new tank and healer I will be very surprised.

no I won't be ok. Counting the choices we have for playing tank/heal/dps, tanks and healers don't have the variety that dps have to switch jobs within the role. I like to play healer as secondary role, and I'm stuck with just three choices when I have nine for my primary role, dps. It makes things stale, and as for balance... as someone said above, if they didn't manage to balance jobs in 2 years, they won't this time.
Even though it's scary to see how they'll balance that, no, I wouldn't be okay, I want a new healer to play.
I'd like to see a new tank and healing class, honestly.
However, if they choose to only release DPS jobs again, I think they should seriously consider upping the Light Party size in dungeons from 4 (tank/heal/2 DPS) to 5 (tank/heal/3 DPS). Excluding things like PotD/HoH, Guildhests, and Feast/Rival Wings PvP which are fine with the current Light Party both in queue times and balance. I can't think of any dungeons that would need any significant changes in mechanics, I think the team could get away with just a HP boost to all mobs/bosses in those instances. When they add just DPS jobs, queues get longer and no one feels it more than the people just starting the game.
