Can we discuss how abusive the GM department is when it comes to 'Grief Tactics'? A

A player on our server who has spawned and relayed more S Ranks than likely anyone else on our servers history was recently reported and warned for "Grief Tactics" in response to her resetting an S-Rank that SHE herself spawned and relayed to the entire community.

She reset the hunt due to it being pulled early in order to give others time to get there.
However, someone apparently decided to get together and report this player, and as a result, she received this warning against her account:

I see things like this all the time, and it infuriates me to no end. Grief Tactics. While I acknowledge that some of these warnings are valid, I've seen many people get warned for Grief Tactics over the most ridiculous things. Kicking people who are harassing others in Novice Network, disrupting bots by trading them to prevent them from being able to teleport (yes, bots will sometimes report you and get you banned), among other things.

It is probably one of my most hated things about this game at the moment. There is no accountability or real oversight on this. I have never seen a single person who has appealed a dubious "Grief Tactics" ban or warning and successfully have it revoked, no matter how much evidence has been provided in their defense.

This kind of abuse by the GM department seriously needs to stop.

I'd like to hear of any other dubious "Grief Tactic" bans others here have received, so maybe I can compile a list of these before sending it over to SE's corporate office in Japan, since nobody in the North American division seems to care at all.

There is no ownership of hunts and there is only pulling the mob, not pulling early. It's a courtesy to wait, not a requirement. While I do wish people would wait and it can be irritating when they don't, once it's pulled that's it.

"Early-pulling" is not against the ToS

Resetting monsters is.

I've done this several times, so I'm thankful nobody was salty enough about it to report me.

Honestly, though, the "early" pullers are only half of the problem. If nobody actually follows up on their pull, they have no power, and it's not like anyone other then the tank needs to be hitting the hunt to get full credit, anyways. Heck, just spamming AoE heals on your party can get you full credit pretty easily.

I've kind of resigned myself to that fact and try more to encourage the people who show up at hunts to not gratify the pullers then to reset the hunts now.

It is against the tos though and if it's the person who I think it is, this is not the first time they had reports against them and I am guessing they decided to finally give them a strike.

I've seen this before and it's known in the hunt community that resetting a hunt mark is indeed reportable.

I definitely agree it's ridiculous.
S rank spawners who share hunts do a tremendous amount of work for the community, S ranks take a great deal of time investment to spawn consistently and the hunt community and linkshell network brings thousands of players together.
Resetting a hunt mark to grief a group should indeed be bannable, but resetting so that 50 other players can get there in time benefits 50 players positively and is perfectly reasonable.

Considering you can openly admit you parse on the forums as long as you aren't a douche about it, despite the fact the ToS strictly prohibits it, you'd think the investigating GM could use some common sense in this situation too and not reward the player aiming to ruin the gaming experience for the rest of their server.

I actually didn't realize this was something I could report ppl for. It seldom happens, but I have had ppl do it to me and then write /laugh or /chuckle or something from time to time. Mostly a trivial annoyance, though one player in particular kept doing it to me multiple times and was preventing me from getting to a node until I sent them a /tell "Are you finished?"

Nice to know that in the future I don't have to bother with sending them a tell and can go straight to the GM report.

When hunts were first introduced, I would see groups reset marks alot of the time so others could get there. I haven't seen or heard of that happening for awhile now, guessing because it's punishable. It's generally up to people to get to a hunt on time. If they don't? That sucks, but there's always another mark. People take it way too seriously imo. I'm fine with people waiting, because I believe it is the "right" thing to do. However, I am only willing to wait so long as are many others. If the mark is still untouched after 3,4 maybe 5 minutes or longer it's going to die not long after.

It is called "The hunt" not "The wait". There is no such thing as pulling early. If I find a hunt and want to kill it myself, I have that right. You have no right to reset that hunt, which would remove all my accumulated credit. Depending on the rank, I may not be able to get enough credit if you've waited for the whole server to show up. Same thing for me, if I pop or find a hunt and engage, I can't reset it if there are others fighting, because that isn't fair to them and their accumulated credit. Resetting a hunt is griefing, pure and simple.
