Option to play with other world groups.

Currently due to work I often can only play during terrible hours when most in my region are sleeping the sleep of the righteous.

This makes finding groups for anything impossible. Because of this I was wondering if people could get the option to play with other world groups for dungeons and so on (EU with NA for example). While latency will not make this viable for harder content, there are a lot of things which can currently be done and where a bit of lag wouldn't be an issue.

Ofc if you don't have the option enabled then you won't have to play with other world groups.

You mean something like Cross-Datacenter, like how we have the Crossworld-stuff now?

I dont think thats possible because the datacenters arent connected like that.

But you can play on any EU-server, even when you're in the US (and vice versa). I wouldnt even be to concerned about latency - while most of our static is from parts of the EU (we play on Odin) our WHM lives in america and while she does struggle with lag-issues from time to time, we're still happly raiding and clearing.
You could always make an alt on a server/datacenter that fits your schedule better and see how bad the lag is - and eventually transfer your main over, if you want.

Cross-Datacenter would likely have horribly impacted performance given the latency required to sync things up. Players for Global FFXIV (so not China and not Korea) can already make characters on any of the datacenters and play on them. The latency between a single player out of region isn't too bad. If you had to introduce player <-> local world <-> local datacenter <-> remote data center <-> remote world <-> other players, you'd be adding on a much more significant amount of processing and latency.

i would just plain up suggest moving worlds to something where it's primetime when you are active during offtime.
