OSX Mojave - Black screen after I hit "Play" button in launcher

The launcher starts up fine and the game will update but then I hit play and nothing. All I get is a black screen with the cursor. I've been playing on my mac for the past 3 years and this is the first time I've encountered this.... it's very frustrating. Sometimes a restart seems to help but today that doesn't seem to be the case.

Any advice for me? I'd hate to have to do a new install, especially because the ability to back up character and ui settings has been unavailable for me since those options have been patched in :(

EDIT: I ended up doing a clean reinstall. It's working again!
