Ayy MCH has 8 times less clears on the Final Omega than Bard.

I just feel like this tier MCH is even more of a joke. I honestly don't care if this picture is from another source but this is how real the issues of Machinist compared to Bard are.

This is because BRD is one of the basic jobs in raiding, BRD + DRG + 1 Melee + 1 Ranged (physical or magical) so it is just normal to see this.

You're not seeing the bigger picture.

DRG's Disembowel boosts piercing damage, thus currently a natural partner to BRD and MCH. However it is not necessary to bring two ranged physical for MP utility, thus a caster is picked for either more damage, caster / raise utility or both.

This begs the question - why BRD and not MCH? Simple - synergy.

What DRG and BRD have in common is buffing critical hit rate via Battle Litany and song passives - a reason why on a further note you see them likely paired with AST and SCH as healers, both being able to boost crit as well. Battle Voice of BRD also buffs Direct Hit, and if you aren't sleeping under a rock you know how ridiculous Crit-DH attacks are.

On a further note, MCH is awful to optimize due to clunky gameplay compared to BRD's relatively comfortable song rotation. Sure, MCH has the potential to outDPS BRD thanks to better personal buff alignment, but at what cost?

Simply put, DRG-BRD is nearly hard-locked in competent raid groups due to piercing & crit synergy with either MNK or NIN as 2nd melee and a caster of choice in the 2nd ranged slot.

Simpler put - get rid of piercing / slashing / blunt.

I don't think it has anything to do with the job performance overall, it's simply a matter of the job being unpopular.
I can't even recall the last time I've seen a MCH in Suzaku.

While it performs fine, it's a very clunky job to play so it's honestly no surprise.

What the above said is also true altough it doesn't explain everything as many group did clear OS12 with non-optimal group.
I've seen groups with SAM+BLM and let's be real here, you don't bring these too when you want the most optimal comp. As long as your player are competent enough, with some crafted gear DPS check aren't an issue anymore even on the first week.

I love how people try to explain to me why this is the case. I understand why it is the case. I play MCH. I cleared it on MCH. I also play BRD. I don't want an explanation of why these numbers are like that. I want Square Enix to fix Machinist and not put Skillspeed on the Raid gun to make the job even worse.

Fix Machinist Square Enix. It's been a whole expansion that it lies in the dirt. But let's nerf Hypercharge a bit more.

Its kinda funny, as we all thought, the turrets potency is doubled during Hypercharge (like the old description said). But reality is: its only a 50% increase and SE fixed the description way to late ^^.

I can understand why SE dont want to put on a hand on MCH. Nearly any tiny change changed MCH alot. A complete rework is neccessary (like you ve stated in your thread how to fix MCH), but due to MCH wildfire and RNG mechanics its pretty dangerous. On the other hand, SE could at least increase Overheat to 11s. Bad serverticks during overheat can be pain sometimes.

Ye this for example. Wouldn't break much, would it? Or just applying GB after OH automatically instead of letting us Double weave it with Barrel Stabilizer. But no, nothing whatsoever. The job has the worst design out of all in the expac. It's actually decent for progression due to dismantle and refresh/pallisade but for the rest, it's playstyle is just bad.
