New players on Cornelia
I'm curious as to how many new players we have on Cornelia.
As a new player, I am finding it extremely frustrating to try to communicate with other players. I have tried adding all of the LS recruiters to my friends list, but none of them ever seem to play at the same time I do. An MMO can be REALLY boring with no one to chat with, expecially a grinding intensive MMO. So, here's my thought: if you are a new player please post your avg playtime. For example, my avg platime would be 5-9pm cst on weekdays and 3-9pm weekends. Maybe some linkshells will take notice that there actually ARE new players in this game, or maybe we can create a new player linkshell.
Creating a linkshell for new players may be a terrible idea because I am still not 100% sure how they function, so I would like some input on that from some experienced players. Please! Any advice for what I should do would be welcome. I can't be the only new player who is having this problem, so we might be able to help out quite a few people. Okay, thats all. Sorry if I was a bit long-winded, but I really want to get this resolved because it is ruining my playing experience.
ps. please don't tell me that there are plenty of LSs on the forums recruiting because most of the posts are old and all of those have led me to dead ends.

Hmmm Kweh LS has many new players and a few returning players, but unfortunately it seems that our playtimes are very different, we are mostly a European shell and thats why you cant contact the officers that easily.
Let's hope that some American LS will catch this post.

That makes a lot of sense. I was wondering why I couldn't get in touch with anyone.
I do know we have some players who play around the same time I do, but do they check the forums... hmmm. It's really hard to contact people any other way unless I am missing something. There's no such thing as general chat, right? I could run around yelling, but that just seems so rude:(

I just started playing yesterday. Most of my friends are playing Star Wars so I'm in between this and Star Wars right now. Star Wars is alright but it's not like the Final Fantasy MMO titles at all so I have to get away with playing both lol.
I'm really liking it so far. Much more customization in FFXIV than Star Wars. I really like the fantasy setting too and the graphics are top notch. Took me quite awhile to look past the reviews and give the game a try despite the superscription fee.
Anyway, if you're looking for someone to play with or chat with feel free to add me. My ingame name is Ark Starwind. I'm also looking for a LS too if you've found one you like enough to pitch me. :)

IF you go to XIVpads here you'll find a list of the Linkshells on Cornelia, sort by event rather than Members to get an idea of the most active shells, and try and contact the officers of the shell, Like Meleena said above Kweh and KOTR are both predominantly EU based shells, but we do have US members and i'm sure they would welcome another US applicant in the shell, If you can get hold of an officer of KOTR ask them about joining.

well we're primarly a westcoast NA timeslot LS, but we avg about 15-20 people online at all times (some maybe afk) so if you're interested just give me a tell,
one thing is that even though we do loving having new people come to the game, it just sucks they leave after maybe a week or two, if you're planning to at least get a max level job then hit me up.

Hello, I for one am a rather new player and have been trying to first of all, like i did with ffxi, learn the basics at least before trying to find a ls.
I wouldn't mind finding a US ls who might receive new players though...
Anyways, I like Alfinea's idea to post game times although it might not be of much use.
My in-game character is Mariana Gabriela based in Gridania, althought that city feels like a tomb compared to Ul'dah idk why... kinda reminds me of bastok but 99% more green o.ob

Hello, I am a new player to FF 14 and I live in the UK. I have just started up FF 14 again recently and hoping to invest more time in it within the coming months leading up to release of the version 2.0.
I am looking for an active Linkshell mainly just to chat with people while I level up etc, cause at the moment playing the game is extremely boring when I am just soloing all the time with no1 to talk to, might as well play a single player game.
I started FF 14 in beta, however after all the problems it was going through back then I left it ( terrible UI and controls etc, and I was constantly getting blue screen).
Long term I do hope to stay in FF 14 because atm a lot of the other games being released are just far far too easy. I prefer to find a game where mastering a class/profession will take years, rather than days.
my in-game character is Mireille Silverthorn. Focusing on Archer atm then will try out pugilist as well.

I'm currently America Central Standard Time and my main LS tends to be very active from mid-noon till midnight. Try JaNoVaS WiTnEsS. I also belong to Kweh which is perfect for mornings through mid afternoon. (I beleive I've accidentally attained some form of LS Harmony)

I'm new to FF14 myself. I've been playing solo for the past 3 or 4 days now. And to be totally honest, I am 100% at a loss with what to do with myself. I've read several newbie guides, and all of them tell me to join a linkshell, which I've tried. But EVERYONE I've met so far on Cornelia speaks Japanese so I can't speak to anyone, or ask anyone for help. I THINK I'm on an EU server, at least I hope I am. (Cornelia before the merge. Now Durandal)
The job system is wonderfully confusing. I don't know how the hell crafting works, so I'm still stuck in my level 1 gear for Lancer. And I can't do group leves / quests because no one comes up in the party search.
Are there any English speaking LS on Durandal that will take me on and give me some help? I really want to love the game, but the it's making it really hard for me right now as a sad, lonely little Lalafell.
