Possibility of our combat skills becoming obsolete?

With my monk, The Forbidden Chakra and Tornado Kick are a staple. And so is Riddle of Fire. I LOVE them. But soon, the next expansion will come out and I'm worried these skills will be replaced by complicated ones... What do you think of this?

I don't know why you're so worried about this. A huge amount of staple skills from ARR still exist today.

EDIT: Just saw your join date, I guess you might be a new player. Anyway I don't think the next expansion is a cause for worry in this case.

I don't expect them to make combat more complicated. I think they'll do the opposite, like making combos a single button like in PvP.

And they probably won't add that many new skills if they can help it. They'll probably just do something boring like get rid of role actions and then give us different versions of them as "new" skills.

To be honest I don't think we can predict just what they will do in the next expansion. I would just wait till more info is known and not worry about it.

I’m still a bit torn up about Fracture (An old DoT from Warrior) and Brutal Swing. (Warrior’s old stun ability)

If you want to be worried about monk, be worried SE will "simplify" it.

I actually dislike the thought of getting new skills due to feeling comfortable with my hotbar set up for so long. There's always a little dread when the level cap increases and I have to find a place to put new skills and get used to the new way the job might play. Not sure what 5.0 is going to bring, I just hope it's not going to bloat my hotbar up with lots of new skills and yet at the same time, I don't want them to not add new skills.

How can this be resolved I wonder? I like new skills, but I also like a hotbar that's not bloated full of skills. Perhaps link some skills in such a way that they can be used with one key/button? Actually, I suppose they started testing that out on PvP with the combos being a single key press that just updates. I'd like that expanded on for use outside of PvP, at least with the option to use it or not.

I would like to see something similar to how some skills "upgrade" like how berserk changes on warrior. Could see this as an alt to creating new skills without adding more buttons.
