Being Rewarded With Something Other Than Grade 5 Dark Matter?

Greetings!

As many of you have noticed, as the current time sin... err "rewards" system stands, after your 100th Ifrit/Moogle fight your left with a few stacks of wonderful (but useless) Grade 5 Dark Matter.

Due to everyone being rewarded this lovely item time & time again, it's value has gone down to something on the wards (Assuming people don't NPC it) that may as well be free. Why buy it from the NPC for 1,500G per when the super-saturated market wards has them for dirt cheap? More importantly, why should it be a reward in the first place?

Isn't there any other reward that can be given? In all honesty I believe Grand Company seals would be a nice reward. If your unable to put them in the chest, why not make them a part of the 5,300 exp completion reward you get for turning the quest in after you beat it? Like a static 100-200 seals per win or something, obviously much better than Dark Matter because I can buy various items with the seals.

Something like this would give people a greater incentive to help others out because they would be getting something of worth (If they had all of the weapon rewards already).

This is just my idea and others may have even better ones that haven't even thought of. That being said, what do YOU think they should replace Grade 5 Dark Matter with & how (If it's something too hard to code into the chest reward)?

Don't forget the EXP for a different class, and the 5-8k gil.

Some grade 4 dark matter would be nice though.

Replace the Grade 5 Dark Matter with any of the following items, preferably randomized:

• Bat Wing
• Insect Wing
• Bone Chip

We can all just call it a humorous tie-in to FFXI then.

I personally think it should be a randomized pool containing the following:

Potions, Ethers, gil bonuses, crystals, dark matter and 1-2 different items based on the monster / raid (IE: Ifrit chest can drop Eye of Fire while Darkhold chests can drop Umbral Moraines) .

Or dated materials for old synthesis recipies just to flip people off >_>

Working as intended for any MMORPG today that doesn't hand you everything you desire for 5 minutes of work.

Ironically, I recall them saying they'll redo the way grade matters work (or introduce a new one) that works on all lower tiers, i.e Grand 5 will repair everything (which in turn raises demand, thus prices) so their usefulness isn't counted out just yet.

If people didn't shit their pants at the mere mention of FFXI, they could have went with the FFXI setup:

~ Beat the Summon (Primal)

Choose between:

-Pact with the Summon
-Item used in the Evoker Ring quest
-Weapon and/or armor assoicated with the summon (i.e Thunder Ring or Ifrit's Blade)
-Gil (10k+)

Obviously, this system would mean an actual cooldown/lockout timer which people seem to hate, but also hate the fact you can spam this and "not get anything useful", think about why you never really "get rewarded" when you can sit there and spam it back to back all day lol,

I wouldn't really suggest company seals even more so since doing it already gave you boost with the same company present in the fight, but for example the real reason people won't help is present in pretty much every MMO you play, once they're already done as well as the majority of other established playerbase, they don't help. No matter the incentives, no matter if you're offered millions of gil they simply won't help because they feel it's not worth their while to help people.

It's just simple MMO life. There's very little it seems they could do without going to an extreme (automatically handing you what you want, allowing you to level, making you rich etc.) so we'll just really have to see what they have in store for the 2.0 design of these fights as they stated.

I'd much prefer to have Inferno Totems replace Dark Matter (the cost of trading for a weapon could understandably be raised in this situation). Would be nice if all instances of Dark Matter got replaced with "consolation prize" items like this and you could stock up and purchase the gear if you are really unlucky. It really can't be anything sellable because with how often people do fights like this any common drop would dramatically drop in value... just like Grade 5 Dark Matter has.

Seals are a wonderful idea, though. I'd welcome that consolation prize with open arms.

Do want more potions and food that's useful.

Being rewarded with 'something-other-than-dark-matter' will soon gets old as well and people will starts demanding the other things. There is no way to satisfy them.

I personally like the exp it gives out, it is enough incentive for me to do them over and over again because i hated the hell out of crafting and gathering.

I like the idea of GC seals, we need more sources of them and 200 seals per ~half an hours work would be reasonable
