Returning player - everything seems bugged?

Hi all

just logged into FFXIV for the first time in over two years and I am experiencing a number of issues that I don't know how to address. Please help. :confused:
(I tried to post this under 'general discussion' but got a message saying my main character is not high enough to do so? It's level 60, so I don't know how this is not high enough)

anyways, here goes:

1) My Chocobo is lost: while being inactive, I was of course kicked out of my FC. Problem is, that my chocobo is/was stabled there. It is now officially 'lost', resulting in me not being able to summon it or any other minions. How do I retrieve it?

2) I am stranded in Ul'Dah and cannot port anywhere apart from other Ul'Dah locations?!

3) I cannot add any new friends (only have 12/200 on my list, so that should not be an issue). I am trying to add my BF who is definitely playing on the same server, but every time I try I get an error message saying 'Cannot locate' - no matter whether he's online or offline. (Yes, I have double and triple checked spelling)

Chocobo lost ive heard of, but i dont know what the solution was. That might need to be submitted to a GM in game.

As for traveling, are you using the teleport option or are you interacting with the aetheryte in town? The aetheryte itself can only send you to Ul Dah locations, but your teleport command should allow you to go anywhere else you have attuned to.

As for friends list, im fairly sure they do have to be online at the time for it to work - and he might have to not be busy doing a dungeon. Try getting him to come to you. Click on him, then bring up the contextual menu(right click if keyboard/mouse). There should be an add to friends list option on that menu.

If none of those things work, it makes me wonder if you dont have a corrupted character data file. Not that i know how to fix that either, but its a thought.

You'll want to talk to a resident caretaker in a housing ward to get your chocobo. Frizze's suggestions should solve the rest. I doubt anything is actually broken. =)

Welcome back to the game! The above-mentioned solutions should sort you out, I believe, but I also wanted to add that since you've been gone the game has added cross-server support within each data center, meaning not only can you go into duties with players from other servers on your data center, but you may also send them friend requests as well! Furthermore, they recently provided the ability to set up a cross-world Linkshell, though atm you can only be a part of one such group at a time. This all may not be totally relevant, but I noted you mentioned that you made sure your bf was in the same server so you could add him, which implied that you may not have been aware of all these changes. So if you didn't already hear all that yet, hopefully that helps to bring you back into the loop!
