Cross-server friends list and messaging

This is an XI feature that I would like to see copy/pasted into XIV if possible. Why?

Because it was in XI.

No, seriously. I think we all know why. I'd just like to know if everyone else agrees or not?

To sum up, I realize that there is not a lot of (if any) communication between servers, so messaging can wait, as long as it gets added. If I can /flist you now and then send you a message around 2.0, that would be just fine.

I also think adding friends should not require consent or both players to be active temporarily for this method. I'm not sure about the long run (do you really want everyone being able to contact you?) but just let me add all of the friends in my old linkshell that I want to talk to when they decide to come back.

I don't think anyone ever uses Lodestone, and following the blogs is just... is that all you could do?

This was shortsighted, but back in the days near launch, before quitting, many people made linkshells to stay in contact with people long-term when they decided they were quitting, in case they'd ever come back. Having 8 shells was great for this. Now, those shells will be deleted, our characters may be renamed, and we have no idea what server our old friends will be dumped on since they can't choose without paying.

As long this was implemented tastefully so that players weren't susceptible to aggresive messages from any player on any server, I'd say this would work really well.

Suprisingly, its a feature most MMORPGS don't have, but would be a nice feature.

I'm not sure this feature could be that easily abused, but if it could then make it a 1 message/day limit unless you're on each other's friends list. Actually, I do see how it could be abused, but not enough to outweigh the gains I'm hoping for.
