How much do FRIENDS make a difference with you?

My question is basically this...

With your gameplay, how much do your in-game friends influence it?

I'm really curious about this. I myself cannot go by without them. Just today, one of my friends gave me a discount for an IL 350 weapon. There was no way I could've afforded it on the market board. He sold it to me for barely 60% of the market board price.

I've had a friend give me 150,000 Gil even though I only asked for 50k. Lol.

This is an MMO after all. Socialization and friendship is indispensable.

I think friends can make a big difference with MMOs in general, but XIV has turned into the solo player experience for me as just about everyone I talked to frequently has quit. I have no FC either. I have very little attachment to this game outside of the addiction factor (which is waning) ATM.

Uh, not too much for me? I actually spend most of my time alone. Most of my friends are off playing other games (MHW, Warframe, BDO, Persona 5, Fate Grand Order, GanBlue, Azur Lane, <insert something else I forgot>). Most of the time, we talk outside of the game and in game is spent raiding. In the group, I'm probably one of three crafters that'll make things (I probably influence their gameplay more than they influence mine), and the only gatherer of the bunch. Other than that, there's a few people I'll talk to, but I'd not exactly call them friends as more like acquaintances.

It varies, most of the people I met when I made my first toon already stopped playing, and right now there's the content lull so not even I am playing much, just for weekly raid and that's it.

That said, I do have a static and we're all friends, without them I probably wouldn't raid for a lot of personal issues; that and my ex-bf who's also in the static (he's the reason thay added me lol). It's also pretty complicated, since real life happens, people have less time/money/energy to play and then you have to replace someone you grouped with but that's just life in general. Plus, I'm a very casual crafter so getting my food and pots for "free" by getting the mats is pretty nice lol

I imagine it might be nice to have friends.

friends are those things that show up to carry you through the dungeons you que'd up for right?

If not for them, I probably would no longer be playing.


The content I get the most enjoyment out of these days is the MSQ and general fluff like new emotes or glamours that have a relatively short shelf life in the grand scheme of things. If not for having at least one diehard fan of this game for a friend, I would likely have lost incentive to resub each month as I am not a raider and the dungeon grind routine has gradually worn me down to the point that its simply not enjoyable to me.
