an arguement against unlock all role action and for a more control feature

here is my suggest

first role traits
shirk, interject reprisal, anticipations
tank traits basic have a ability to pop at select period of time
rampart trait when income damage is high
convalescence when hp is low
awareness when income critical damage
healer traits, spells
esuna, lucid dreaming , swiftcast, rescue,
pop when doing damage Cleric
surecast when spell is interrupted
Largesse increase healing

dps traits
invigorates when tp is low

Cooldowns are not reactionary abilities

I’m confused by what you mean by “for a more control feature” in your post. As it stands now, you already have full control over when you use most of the role actions you have listed. Making them automated traits seems to me like it would take away your control of when they are used.

Conv won't save a dieing tank and if you pop rampart while incoming damage is high you'll die. They are predictive abilities not reactionary.

Adding to that, we know quite well the devs have an entirely different belief of how we play the game than we actually do. There's a good chance they force players into say, tank stance, for certain abilities to trigger. Which means tanks won't even look at them unless absolutely necessary. And Rampart isn't necessary.

It takes away quite some planning, I mean your tank popping Convalescence (even though they are on full health) to assist the SCH in getting a crit Adlo spread, or using Surecast even though your next action is actually Instacast (like DWT Ruin III, or BLM Triplecast etc).

Having them automatic worked in older FF games (like Auto-Potion, Cover etc) but it doesn't really work in an mmo like this when having control gives you so many possibilities on how to play.

what I mean is role traits would work like this

suppose I am tank an my health get under 50% then convalescence would pop give healer a bonus in heal me
suppose my enemy critical on me my awareness would pop

if I am a healer
if I get critical if I am doing dps spell my Cleric stance would pop

suppose as dps my TP get lower then 50% my invigorates would pop these number are place holder but they could be adjusted so it work for selected jobs

range job could have critical effect then get one shot to pop for silence shot or so forth

usually taking away control of things from the player is undesirable. I wouldn't want things popping just because a certain set of circumstances happened. I want to control what i pop and when.

I wouldn't want Awareness to pop in O3S because Hali got lucky with an auto-attack, I need that for her tankbuster.

Auto-activation is just not a good idea.

That's pretty much called Excognitation. By having Convalescence be automatic, you essentially just made a SCH action useless.

And what about the likes of Goad, Tactician, Purification, Equilibrium (under Deliverance)?
