Lightning Returns: WHM/BLM Weapon

I know this isn't new, but it was my first time seeing that the other weapons from the Lightning Returns event were on the MogStation. I have all the weapons from when the event happened, so I'm not a prospective buyer or anything. But I wanted to scold SE for it because they should be reminded of their laziness regarding it. So y'know, move along if you don't care for that.

For those that don't know, these two glamours are 1-handed wand glamours. For why that's a problem, read on.

Anyway...

SE! I'm appalled at you! *finger wagging* Selling worthless Glamours for real money! How dare you! The last Wands to be implemented in the game were from Leviathan! That's patch 2.2, FROM 2014! You then discontinued the wand weapons from the game. That's fine. You double-backed later, implementing 2-handed staff versions of the early primal wands during Heavensward due to outcry over those lost glamours. Good job! But, you're right now selling a glamour for a weapon type you stopped supporting 4 years ago! For shame!


You should fix it! OR... y'know maybe bring back Wands & Shields for WHM's? Maybe work that into making the WHM class unique...? Or did you not already abandon that Lilly mechanic that worked out so well and totally isn't ignored? >.> Just a thought...

I really agree with this I mean it's one thing to make it paid content for those that missed the event, but it effects everyone when it comes to glamour. To essentially have two pieces of gear that is unusable in post ARR content is a bit silly, shouldn't be too hard to extend the handles of the weapons and make them officially two-handed.

On a side note, I would love to be able to dye these FF13 weapons as well... having a pink bow somehow doesn't suit my BRD, but I doubt dye is coming any time soon.

The FFXIII gear is actually not normal 'useless' glamour gear - unlike glamour gear it actually has stats and is level 13 equippable instead of the usual level 1 for glam gear (the armour pieces in particular have pretty much the best stats for level 10-15 gear really) so it does still serve a purpose. And the reason for this is the FFXIII gear was added to the game long before the glamour system was developed, so it was meant to be actual gear instead of something you just glam.

As for the CNJ/WHM weapon specifically, well, that is clearly based on that weird la crosse stick thing Vanielle used in FFXIII which she held with, just one hand. Again at the time the FFXIII event originally ran, single hand weapons for THM/BLM and CNJ/WHM were still an option (a legacy from the original 1.0 version of FFXIV), and as SE did not retroactively add extra weapons for the later Jobs (ROG/NIN didn't even get one), this is unsurprising that they did not change the mage weapons to be two-handed to be used with later/end-game mage weapons once the glamour system was added.

So that's why the FFXIII gear is like it is, and I do not see them changing this I'm afraid.

I don't think that is reason enough not to make future changes for glamour purposes. I mean look at the Yo-kai gear, none of it is useless, is level 30 gear and can be used at that level by players is they so wish (although it's slightly weaker than other lvl 30 weapons at that stage, it's still useable). I don't think they care enough about an old event but they could pretty easily just make longer versions and stick them on the calamity salvager.
It worked for the primal one handed stuff well enough

personally i think the ideal solution is to do away with shields altogether and just have every 'one-handed' weapon be naturally paired so they can be used as glamours as is but that's never going to happen.

I would love the ability to wield a wand again. For them to make every weapon in a wand option is just time wasted I guess. However they could just throw in a few here and there with lower stats where the shield bumps it up. Or exactly the same stats with a no stat glamour shield.

I know I've read somewhere it was a huge mistake on their part doing it that way, but the freedom of choice was like by many.

Makes me sad that I can never use some wands I really like unless I'm using it for out of a duty

The devs should fix it with adding WHM/BLM shields to dungeon drops again

I'd like more Lightning Returns glams in general.

Bring back the event as a permanent thing and let people grind it for more glam? A man can dream. Anyways, take my +1!
