I wanna know if this is normal...
Useless glam items... Are WAAAY more expensive than real practical items. I literally geared up my level 60 monk for barely 100k, yet it cost 350,000 Gil for a friggin HAT. A useless, pointless HAT.
I then checked the price of a plain long skirt.
It... Cost... 1 MILLION GIL.
Seriously, a friggin skirt that costs TWO WHOLE APARTMENTS?
I became curious if these market board vendors were just trolling, so I asked people. They told me this was normal.
WTF...
The prices are most likely higher or lower depending on whether its part of the glamour thing in the gold saucer for the week, cause i've seen things that sell for like 10k go to like 1 mil during weeks that it's an item that people need, usually people craft those items and take advantage of the people who don't craft. Tends to happen often.
Actually useful gear will last 4-5 months at most and is easily replaced by better options.
Level 1 glamour gear lasts forever, and more often than not the materials to make it are much more rare.
Worthwhile crafted gear hasn't been a thing for very long, crafters used to make all their money on 50 different types of glamour prisms.
Not really weird, while crafted gear can be BiS, for those just gearing up there are many non gil ways to get gear, where as for crafted glamour theirs only buying it as the option so the prices are higher due to you need to go to said crafters to get it.
If you want a particular glamour item that can only be crafted, then making it yourself (or having a crafter friend) or buying it are you only options, when your options are limited the one who is your option can dictate it's worth and many people can't make glamour items themselves and want them now rather than later so will pay up, thus the prices are what they are.
If there was more ways to get them, prices would go down, if people wearn't willing to pay, prices would go down, there isn't and people are.
Glamour is the true endgame. Prices are correct.
Considering how boring itemization is in this game the only real long term value gear has is its looks. The "useless" glamour items are actually the ones with the most value and the market reflects that.
People want to look a certain way, the crafters have the abilities to make it happen. The prices tend to reflect the ease to acquire the materials to make the items as well as the demand.
Plus, some glamour items use ridiculously hard-to-get items - 'dress materials', for example, which are used to make the skirt, only come from unhidden treasure maps & level 50 dungeon chests.
100k on gear you'll replace within 2-5 levels and never go back to.
1M on an item that fits your style and can be used with any number of other glamour items to create your unique look.
Sounds like you're the one getting ripped off.
