Soft targetting needs a fix.

I've almost gotten my Bard to 70, and I've been struggling with soft targeting hindering me every step of the way. Several other people in the same NN complained of the same issue when I asked if a fix existed (apparently it doesn't). I bet it's a problem that goes way farther than just us.

I've got my songs on my d-pad for hotbar 2. Playing a new song should be quick and simple - RB to switch to hotbar 2, hold RT and press on the d-pad, release RT and press RB again, and I can get right back into the fight. But what winds up happening more often than not is that, for some reason, the exact same d-pad press that I used to start playing Mage's Ballad also soft-targeted myself. So, when I try to attack an enemy, I just stand there looking stupid for a second before I realize that the game is refusing to let me attack the enemy I'm already targeting because I've got myself soft-targeted.

There needs to be an option to automatically clear ally soft-targeting and attack a hard-targeted enemy without manually clearing it, or a short grace period where the game won't accept d-pad inputs for targeting after you used the same press to use a skill, or the option to require holding L1 to change targets with the d-pad, or something.
