Huge FPS drop issues
Hi All,
I recently ran Eureka and when I encounter a FATE, my FPS drops to 2-8 then after a few seconds (or like 2 minutes), it goes back to 40-50 fps.
Also, even when I'm just in a place (Gridania, etc) my FPS drops to 40+ for a few seconds then goes back to normal, when usually I have 60+.
My settings is set to Standard for laptop in game. I'm also not running any programs (besides my anti-virus and geforce experience). I also recently updated my BIOS and Windows 10 just this week, if that information helps.
Here is my specs:
Model: Inspiron 7577
OS: Win10 64 bit (10.0, build 17134)
BIOS:1.4.2
Processor: Intel i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Ram: 16gb
DirectX version: DirectX12
Display 1: Intel HD Graphics 630
Display 2: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 with Max-Q Design
P.S, I'm using Nvidia when playing the game.
All help is appreciated. Thank you! :o
EDIT1: I have no problems running savage content or any dungeons. Just with Eureka and the occasional fps drop while in places (Gridania, Ruby Sea, etc.).

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
When did this start happening? Did anything change on your PC that coincides with it?
Based on your information, it seems like the issue is linked to a high number of players in a given area, as you would see in Eureka and in large cities. Does this sound correct, or does it happen in other locations?
Your issue does resemble some of the reported problems in this thread (which we are still looking into), though I'm not certain yet: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ince-the-patch.
If you have a laptop, make sure that nothing is overheating (it can be easy to accidentally cover up some of the vents on a laptop, for instance).
Make sure your anti-virus is not interfering with the game in any way.
Since this is a laptop, make sure it's plugged in and you are using the 'Optimal Power' battery option.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hello!
I think it started happening after Eureka was released. So far, I have not noticed any changes in my PC after I encountered the issue. I can still play other games just fine.
Everytime there are many people in a place in Eureka, the problem starts there. For the cities, even though it's not that crowded, my FPS drops a minimum of 32-45 (just now).
I tried to set all my settings to low, but the problem still persists when I play Eureka. So I stopped playing Eureka because of that.
I use a laptop, and I always make sure I play in a cool place (enough ventilation and such) and it is plugged. I also bought a cooling pad for it.
I'll go and monitor the thread you have given me. Many thanks!
