Chocobo racing feedback/question

Hello, I'm wondering if there is a better way to beat the R300 races. I spent some time getting the "perfect" chocobo and am using the super sprint strat but I still find it incredibly difficult to place 1st on Sagolii or anywhere else.

I noticed keeping speed sub 400 and endurance within 25 of speed allowed me to accelerate indefinitely so maybe I should try that, now at this much speed I get easily lathered even with matching endurance and even with these stats I can't super sprint off the gate and last the whole track.

Any ideas? or are the R300 races just lame like that... I'd figure with this much effort put into getting a better choco the races would have become easier not harder.

with super sprint your stamina will not last for the whole race, except in sagolii maybe. but you will be that far ahead that you will win most of the races anyway.

but you did some things wrong.

the most important thing ist that super sprint makes the stats Maximum Speed, Acceleration and Cunning irrelevant. the same for weather preferance and you will be immune to the heavy stat.

when you activate super sprint you will be pushed immeadiately to 500 speed and you will run at that speed until your stamina is empty. the only thing wich can reduce your speed are chocobo meteors.

with that in mind you should have 500 Endurance and 500 Stamina. you can also swap Choco Cure 3 for Increased Stamina 3. Increased Stamina 3 is a passive skill wich grants you 15% extra stamina, while Choco Cure 3 will refill 12% of your stamina - so you will get 3% more with Increased Stamina 3. however, with aethers you can use Choco Cure 3 maybe more than once in a race.


the only way to run the whole track with max speed would need a combination from Choco Cure 3 and Increased Stamina 3, for 27% extra stamina. you will still need as much Endurance and Stamina you can get, at least 470 speed (will be not fast enough for the last chocobo challange race but works in R300 against NPCs - better you go for 500). but of course Acceleration and Cunning will suffer.

with my super sprint chocobo i win almost every race, but my stamina is empty before the finish line. only meteors and other stamina eating items can prevent me from winning.

It really depends what races you are trying to run too. Longer races are a known problem for that build if you get hit with too many Stamina draining items. Or hit Super Sprint too early and other birds have better Stamina Regen.

Also, what greens did you use to train your chocobo? I've seen Pedigree 9, Rank 50 Chocobos with three stats at 500, one over 400 and the other over 300. Which makes a huge difference. You really need to use Rank 3 greens with them.

Grade 3, my speed and endurance are at 490, I could have capped them but it would have wasted 10 points that instead I threw in cunning. I think thats close enough to claim maxed especially since I'm using the super sprint strat.

The way you want to do it is wait for a stat to be a multiple of 15 away from being capped (485, 470, 455, etc.). Then you use however many Grade 3 feeds you need to cap it. Capping stats early does not waste the stat-gains naturally gotten at Rank Up. It instead forces the stat-gains onto the uncapped stats. Then once you get to Rank 50, you can use the rest of the training on the dump stats (Cunning/Acceleration).

I also don't know that much about how a Super Sprint/Choco Cure III build works. I tend to prefer Choco Cure III/Speedy Cure III builds which have very different stat priorities...
