Normal Raid Roulette XP Bonus

Of course I have a small sample size, only two day's worth, but does it seem as though Normal Raid roulette grants very little XP?

It cant be just time spent and first timer bonuses, right?

I do Trial Roulette and get Zurvan. We have first timers and the fight takes a very long time, maybe 15 minutes or so, we had many deaths, and I was solo tanking (other tank left when he saw it was Zurvan). I get 550k XP for the trial.

I do Normal Raid Roulette and get A11. It's 4 wipes, cleared on 5th try. It takes maybe 30 or so minutes, and I get 110k XP; it was significantly longer time in the raid than it was in Zurvan, for not even half as much XP.

This was about how much I got for A6 yesterday, too. This is extremely small XP compared to Trial roulette. At the worst Normal Raids are generally as difficult as Trials, though considering that Normal Raids, for the purpose of leveling, are exclusively Alexander Raids, they're significantly harder than the average Trial, like Steps/Ifrit/Titan/Leviathan/Shiva/etc.

Even considering duration of the raid and first timer bonuses, I still should have had as much from that A11 run as I did for Zurvan. It was 6/8 first timers for A11, and it took twice as long.

I'd love to commit to Normal Raid Roulette, I do like Alexander and I want to spend more time with it synced and getting the glamour, even if it isn't the dyeable Savage versions, but it's extremely difficult to justify doing so when I get less XP from a roulette than I do from a FATE.

Both were at Level 64 on Paladin, back-to-back, and I am excluding the Adventurer-In-Need bonus.

tomestones. the roulette is in there for tomestones. and for newer players to actually get a chance of getting a group to do alexander and the binding coil for the first time. I missed alexander (and sadly, most of heavensward) but caught up in stormblood and let me tell you, trying to queue for alexander no matter the role had a 30 minute queue time minimum

Just don't do it?

I agree, 8 man raids are essentially trials anyway, so the roulettes should give similar amounts of experience.

Also to the person above, Coil isn't in this roulette and it never will be unless it gets beaten to death with a nerf bat.

Coil isn't in the Normal Raid roulette (and never will be, a lot of SC and FC is harder than some current Omega Savage).

And trying to queue for anything that isn't current content or in the Trial/Leveling Roulette gives every role a 30 minute queue time. That's what Party Finder is for.

As for tomestones, why? It's a terrible source of tomestones. Just do 50/60 or idk, keep playing? If you're a new player who actually needs tomestones, the dungeons in post 3.x story flood you with them. If you aren't a new player then spam Keeper of the Lake or certain Trials fishing for 1st Timer bonuses. As for farming Creation/Mendacity, it's not good for that, either.

Also, the roulette only puts you into Alexander that you have unlocked. Someone is still dealing with those queues; the roulette, ideally, should exist for players hard queuing into Alexander, to fill their party with roulette players. This is the same reason why you do Mentor Roulette you end up in something silly like ZurvanEX.

The point is to get players in the roulette, filling queues, so players can experience the old content. If the roulette is literally worthless to the point where it takes at least twice as long as a FATE without wipes, and gives less XP, why would anybody do that roulette?

Normal Raid roulette is a total waste of time and gives zero practical benefits. It gives less XP than a fate and worse tomestones than any at-level content. The only reason you would do Normal Raid Roulette is if you wanted to do Alexander, and considering we *needed* a roulette because nobody wanted to do Alexander... Exactly.

It needs to give at least as much XP as Trial Roulette.

Coils aren't in the roulette, but I am looking forward to seeing Alexander again. So far I've just gotten put into Omega.

Hmm...

I wonder how a 'savage' roulette would work..
Could stick the coils in that. XD
