[SPOILER] I think the writing for how we react in movies needs to be improved.
I like to begin by saying what a triumph this latest update has been when it comes to writing and story! So much has happened and I am still trying to come to terms with everything that has happened! I felt a genuine sense of dread throughout the story as I knew treachery would rear its head, and I was not disappointed!
HOWEVER, there is an instance when the writing has completely failed, and this is a consistent theme since the beginning of the game, highlighted now that the other aspect of the writing has elevated, is the Warrior of Light's inaction within the movies!
I think I speak for most people when I say we ALL wanted to KILL Asahi in THAT moment. But what do the writers write us to do~? We stand idly and WATCH as he does something which I know no person would allow.
I think this is a failure in writing, because as a role play, we are torn from the story because our medium is NOT doing what we want them to do, we have NO input on what happens, at all! I think the warrior of light should ALWAYS be actively making the best choices within these story scenes. In this example, At LEAST destroy his weapon or restrain him in some way!
I would very much like it if the writers can write us to be much more active during movies, because I personally find it inexcusable that we are still nodding and glaring after 2 new additions to this game! This is my suggestion, in that moment after besting the trial, I hated the writers of Final Fantasy XIV.
