Monster Ranch themed content

Back in the days of 1.0 there existed in the files the possibility of a monster taming/gathering class, as a Disciple of Land. I feel as though this could and should make into the game we have today. For the purpose of this, I’ll be referring to it as Shepherd (SHP) but it could be thought of as a Tamer or Hunter as well.

The SHP would be able to obtain monster drops without killing the target. They would also be able to Tame and Trap a wide variety of monsters which would be sent to a Monster Ranch.

This Monster Ranch could then open up a plethora of new content, including new jobs that otherwise have presented a challenge to add while keeping their original flavor!

Just to name a few:

• Shepherd: Collect items from monsters in your ranch similar to gardening.
  
• Beastmaster: Glamour your pets as monsters you have in your ranch (in the same vein as egi glamours).
  
• Morpher: Glamour your monster morphing abilities.
  
• Blue Mage: Glamour your blue magic spells (if they only give us 1 conal breath attack, we could decide to chang it to Aqua/Ice/Fire/Bad breaths if the proper monster type is in ranch).
  
• XI inspired Pankration: Battle your monsters 1v1 or 2v2 with other players’ monsters.
  
• X inspired Arena: Train with your monsters, level them up by defeating them in combat. Single-player content that eventually could become multi-player content when leveled high enough (FC events).

Would you enjoy this type of content?

What other ideas could you think of for this sort of content?

I'd be interested in seeing how it panned out. The new Bless Online has something similar I believe so it could be something like that

Hmm all I know about that is tamed monsters go into a menu and are either minion, pet, or mount. From there they can be sent on missions, essentially what we have with Squadrons and Retainers. Minions and mounts already covered as well and I’d really like a small instanced ranch.

I would love it if DoL could gain something new with passive gathering from monsters.. fail at something and it starts attacking you. Would indeed support something new like this, which we wouldnt even see till next major "x" expansion lol.

Yeah I wouldn’t even expect a project of this size to make it until at least 6.0 haha. But someday I would love it. I like the idea of monsters aggroing if you fail. Then maybe they could set traps or soothe them (like a short term sleep or bind) to try and get away.

Honestly, I really am interested in Shepherd. That should be a gathering class in game, with cooldowns and abilities that raise the drop rate/amount rate of items per monster kill. It would be interested to have a gatherer that farms monster materials and makes it faster than just killing them.
