First person view...
Just curious if other people use 1st person view at all and if so when? Personally I use it in occasion when out in the field mostly or when running between bosses or mobs in older content... just so I can look around and check out all the tiny details...

I did first person view 24/7 in FFXI, as it helped with targeting and other things in select situations, I really loved it.
FFXIV however it is badly done, esp on lalafall, i can never do it, lol. I think that is mostly do the bad targeting this game has.

Only time I’ve ever used first-person is when I’m with friends and we are goofing off in roulettes or something.

I use it just for landscape screenshots, but not to play. You can't see any AoE with it

I don't think I've ever used the first-person view, in either XIV or FFXI. The lack of true mouse look option (i.e. having to hold down a mouse button to look around), and the exceedingly narrow-feeling FoV, makes it a highly unpleasant experience for me. To say nothing, of course, of the flat-out inferior performance in combat, given how AoE effects are indicated.
I suspect it's one of those things where it's a neat novelty for people who don't typically play first-person games, but I play real FPS titles routinely, and the FFXIV version of the first-person view is painfully bad.

I don't recommend it and doubly so for VR lol.

I use it for screencaps and sometimes (rarely really) to mkae low level dungeons more interesting like the time I did all of a Tama-Tara run in First Person on Ninja. I tend to get headaches and eyestrain from the super low FOV if I stay in it too long though.

i used it only for screenshots. but i have thrown the button to activate it looong ago from my controller and replaced it with something usefull, so i am not using it all anymore ^^

The only time I actually use it is to take pictures.
