Game keeps crashing
The past couple of days the game has been completely unplayable for me. The game freezes and hard crashes as soon as I log in. Sometimes I don't even get to load before it crashes. I've made sure my graphics driver is up to date and I even just finished reinstalling the whole thing but it keeps happening. I'm not sure what else to try. Any help is appreciated.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
I'd like to get some more information about this crash.
When exactly did this start occurring and has anything changed on your PC that coincides with it?
Do you receive any kind of error message when it crashes? Can you post a screenshot of it?
How far do you get into the game before the crash occurs (if at all)?
What have you done already to try and resolve the issue?
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

It just started happening about 2 or 3 days ago. At first it was only in Eureka so I updated my graphics driver. After that it was fine for a day or so. Now it crashes whenever I try to play.
There isn’t an error message from the game, just a generic Windows “The program has stopped responding” message.
Sometimes I can actually zone in before it crashes and sometimes I can’t make it past the loading screen.
I’ve updated my graphics driver again and completely uninstalled then reinstalled the game to no avail. I haven’t made any other changes to my PC recently.

Thank you for the reply LyhraMizrahi.
Judging by the error message, it looks like a generic crash. Unfortunately, that doesn't give us much to go on. However, there are a couple things you can try to alleviate this error.
- Try switching to Directx 9 mode (select 'Config' on the FFXIV launcher and switch Directx 11 off)
- Disable all programs/overlays running in the background
- Try a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
- Make sure your anti-virus/firewall is not interfering with FFXIV
- Set the game to compatibility mode. To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
