cursor crazy ?
Hi - I've been having this problem for a long while and I don't even remember when it started but sometimes when I try to use the D-Pad on my PS4 controller the cursor starts freaking out and refusing to target things be they in the over world or in the game menus. I tried my other games, but it was just Final Fantasy having the problem and none of my other games on my ps4 are having issues with targeting. I really want to avoid having to uninstall and reinstall the game given how large patch files and expansions and the like are.

hmmm does it do it in every zone or certain ones? had issue in Eureka yet everywhere else works fine. In Eureka I just re pair my controller or use it with USB connected seems to work for me. I purchased the new version of teh PS4 and have had no issues since then.

yea every zone it just wont let me use it regularly and every other game does. i have disconnected and reconnected controller and plugged it in.. it only happens sometimes, like last night around 12amEST but this morning was fine until after my first hour playing. Also i never had this problem before..upgrading my ps4 shouldnt have to be a solution.

No updates happening while playing? I had that issue on other games and did not realize my system was downloading updates. Hopefully it's a PS4 Version bug and nothing else.

No games downloading, updating, installing. Also FFXIV is updated to most current available update. I also have restarted, turn off, and checked PS4 for updates.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Can you elaborate what you mean by "my PS4 controller the cursor starts freaking out and refusing to target things?"
Do you have another controller that you can test to see if it's that specific controller or the PS4 (maybe a friend's perhaps)?
Is this issue only on the D-pad?
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

I've had this happen a few times too. I think it has something to do with the controller itself, maybe the touchpad getting stuck somehow, not sure. Usually pressing circle and the touchpad a lot will help reset it, I've never had to turn the controller off/on to fix it so it may be a different technical issue, but sounds very familiar to what I experience occasionally. Never happened before only within the last couple of months. May be hard to intentionally duplicate the effect.

I have 2 controllers... and the result is the same. I have been a Playstation buyer since my young years and simple fixes and testing equipment are obvious at this point.
To elaborate on the issue on menus:
If i am on the start up screen, log in screen, or pop up menus in-game the cursor starts blinking in and out of the menu and sometimes chooses an option without my input. it seems to be shaking and not letting me select what i want, it just flickers from option to option sometimes disappearing altogether in flashes.

Thank you for the reply superxcereal.
I know you wanted to avoid it, but you may need to try a full reinstall. There are a lot fewer option and things that can get in the way on a PS4 as opposed to a PC, so a lot of problems stem from a bad install.
You can try changing some of the controller settings in the PS4 settings, but I'm not sure if this will change anything.
