Lost Ifrit Weapon, Inventory Not Full

Steps:
1. Beat Ifrit
2. Have 1 inventory slot open
3. Get 1 drop from chest (Ifrit's Battleaxe) and fail to obtain it
4. No other drops to cause issue, pure bug

Beat Ifrit with 199/200 inventory. Got a "You are unable to obtain Ifrit's Battleaxe" message. This is so incredibly frustrating that words cannot express how angry I am. This is not an issue of my fault. I only had 1 slot but only got the weapon (no DM, no totem), so I assume what happened was that the Dark Matter hadn't sorted itself into the already existing stack, and counted it my inventory as full for a split second. Long enough to lose the weapon.

I swear, if this issue goes ignored, I'm quitting. I've beaten Ifrit over 150 times, and only had 1 other weapon drop, at win 2. This is ridiculous.

I'm not threatening SE, simply stating a fact. You want to make the drop rates ludicrously low and random, you should at least empathize with a heavy loss like this. Period.

hmmm not trying to be a jerk but maybe clearing your inventory a bit when you are trying for drops with drop rates that are this low would be a solution.

cant really see how this is a se problem that they should have to address. its really not their problem you decided to go into th fight at 199/200 knowing the drop rates are as they are with the clear knowledge of how the drop works.

That's an obvious first thought so it's not rude, but I clearly have room for it. I just assumed I got it when I read the blue text in my log, thinking "hell yeah! Got the axe!" Why wouldn't I? I had room. But, I continued on my merry way, went to the market wards to purchase mythril wristlets, I have 199/200. I can only get one, I should go clear some space. Wait a god damn second! Why is there only one blue item at the top of my list?

My only thought is, maybe when the dark matter dropped, for split second, I had 200/200 before it sorted into the already existing stack I had. If that's the case, you can NOT call that a player error. That is the fault of their clunky UI and server lag screwing me out of an item which, for all purposes, should go to your GD LOOT LIST ANYWAYS.

The interesting thing here though is, if that is the case, it shouldn't have happened. I should have lost the DM, since in the log it reads:

Inferno lamp tossing
Ifrit's battleaxe
Gil

I can see where SE might want to say, no sorry guy, you're s.o.l. But so help me, if this isn't remedied, SE has lost a player for any and all future titles. The drop rates are unforgiving, and I'm no stranger to it. 7+ years of FFXI, but this type of issue never came up before.


PS: There was no dark matter drop. It was gil and the battleaxe. So it should have been the only thing dropping into my inventory. I have Ifrit's Harpoon from my 2nd win ever, and nearly 100 wins later, Ifrit's Battleaxe, WITH ROOM TO SPARE. One slot is room. This is NOT a player error. AT ALL.

ya that sux Ceres. and SEs loot systems is a bummer at the moment. But i agree with Micah on this one and hope you have learned a lesson. Be prepared for drops, if you want phat lootz, clear out your inventory and the the loot fall in.

Edit: Its nothing worth quitting over, it took me over 300 tries to get the bow and once i had 7 totems the bow dropped and i now have 7 worthless totems because I am 7/7.

Lesson learned from FF11, have several open inv spots when doing events.

well they may have lost a player then cause they are not going to remedy this. its happened before and they said there was nothing they could do, just like with ppl npcing their gear. I can feel your pain somewhat, it took me 47 wins to get my first weapon. but when you know something goes directly into your bag and multiple items drop (dm+ weapon, weapon+totem+dm, totem+dm) you need to be sure there are multiple spaces in your inventory to accomidate so you dont loose one. esp when you will immediately loose something due to it not being able to be loot listed.

and I have had a simular situation happen to me in xi and i accepted it as purely my fault. was i pissed? incredibly. but I accepted it and moved on, i got the item again after awhile

Hate to sound like a dick but...

I really don't care what anyone has to say in SE defense here, I have screen shots, I have common sense. With ONE inventory slot space open, and ONE item being dropped, there is absolutely no reason why this should have happened. The HYPOTHETICAL that I SHOULD have had multiple inventory slots open in the event that it MIGHT have dropped multiples, is not the reality of how this went down. I won't be surprised if you see on the next patch notes a "minor bug wherein players with 199/200 inventory spaces failed to obtain rewards from the Bowl of Embers (Hard)" And when you do, maybe then you'll understand how pissed I am.

One of the only valuable content in-game as far as loot go, and this issue should never have existed. 10 years under SE belt in MMOs and this precaution wasn't thought of?

Not trying to defend SE here, but you should have read what the log said when the weapon dropped. If I went 100+ wins without a drop I would have made damned sure the weapon was secured in my inventory before I got out of there.

When you get the "unable to get item" message all you have to do is make room and reclick on the chest (I know you're saying you had 199/200, but if it glitched, tough luck, make more room and reclick), the weapon is still in there for you to take.
