If I have to guess then it would have been multiple pieces of the Eorzean Map pieces together. It looks like the back side.

They are Eorzean maps. The blogger, Alice from Ultros, explained it somewhere. You can probably reach her in one of the top housing threads on here if you have more questions about her work.

Those are the Eorzean Maps placed so only the back is showing. That's actually Alice's house on Ultros in the picture. Think she's Princess Alice on the official forums. She has a great blog with pictures of her houses as well as houses she has decorated for others. Really sweet with trying to help others figure out furniture combos and such. :-)

That house is stunning :O. Such a pretty modern theme.
