Teatime <<Tea>> is a laidback, med-heavy role-play free company on the FFXIV Balmung server.

The Shroudrose Teahouse and Tavern is a cozy teahouse and bar located within the Lavender Beds of the Twelveswood, serving a wide array of beverages and snacks and selling their own specialty loose-leaf blends of tea. At least, that is what is most publicly known. Less mainstream is the knowledge that the establishment also serves as a front for an information brokerage and private investigations business. Secrets, lies, rumors, intrigue... what is it that you are seeking, or selling, perhaps? Pay us a visit, cut a deal, and spill the tea. Or just enjoy a warm drink and some pleasant company!

Teatime is a casual and comfy group of friends who are looking to expand. We are notaiming to be a super large or highly structured FC, we’re just hoping to enjoy the game at our own pace, in our own space. Because of this, please be aware that things like daily events and involved FC storylines may not be likely or frequent. In order to keep our laidback environment just that and ensure our numbers remain manageable, we are selective in our membership as we know our free company is not a good fit for everyone and vice-versa. Please do not take it personally if you are denied membership. We are trying to keep a tight-knit group of people with a similar focus, who we feel will complement each other and be comfortable in our free company.

Please be aware that though the free company may be morally grey, our membership and theme are not exactly evil, or entirely illegal or immoral. Characters who are openly very villainous and antagonistic may not be a good fit for this free company (though we are happy to let this play out IC if you are on board).

Perks: Chill people, Discord server, FC tumblr, fun RP, multiple RP events each month, FC buffs, large FC house with private rooms available, airship, crafting facilities, and more!

We are looking for members who are mature and independent, who can take initiative and hold accountability for themselves. We are looking for passionate and talented role-players (even if new and still learning!) who take their writing seriously, and who do not focus their role-play on romance and sex. We are looking for members who are fun and relaxed OOC, who fall into the pleasant middle-ground of both having a sense of humor but remaining considerate of others. (Non-RPers are welcome, as are RPers who do not wish to be affiliated with us IC, please just keep in mind you will still be expected to follow all our rules, including our RP rules if and when you ever do decide to RP.)

Safely transport our supplies to us, and our goods to various markets and customers!

Researchers & Consultants
Provide the information brokering side of the business with information on topics of your expertise!

Spies & Investigators
Retrieve information needed for our information brokering clients!

Our application process consists of a brief general application section, a brief RP application section, and an RP "interview." For those who do not wish to join the FC, we allow guests in our Discord (no app required) if they wish to be involved in either our teahouse events or information brokering and private investigations RP. Those who wish to attend our public teahouse events and receive reminders of them, or who want to hire our information brokering services, are more than welcome to join the Discord! The Shroudrose Teahouse and Tavern is a cozy teahouse and bar located within the Lavender Beds of the Twelveswood, but lesser known is that the same establishment serves as information brokering and private investigations business, Teatime. Teatime can help provide information on any person, place, or thing.

What you need to know OOC:

• Due to the potentially questionable nature of the business, the information brokering side of things is kept on the down-low, but it’s no total secret. If you have reason for your character to know, then you can assume they do.
  
• Our FC is not lore-strict, but we are lore-friendly. We are flexible and can accommodate for bending the lore, but not breaking it. Please be respectful of this and do not knowingly ask our FC to investigate anything that goes against lore or reasonable belief.
  
• Teatime has no interest in getting on the wrong side of the law. Any deals involving anything too immoral or illegal may potentially be declined... and maybe tattled to the proper authorities or then some.
  
• All payments are IC, no actual gil or item exchanges necessary.

We can find information in two ways:

1. If your character needs to know something to advance your own plot, your character can hire Teatime, and you can give us the necessary information OOC along with any details about when/how/where you wish our characters to discover it, which we can either role-play or assume to have happened behind the scenes. Teatime can then relay the information to your character.
   
2. If your character wishes for Teatime to relay information on another player character, Teatime can try to obtain this information. This will happen organically via role-play or with whatever cooperation the other role-player is willing to give. Given this involves the variable of a third party, we cannot guarantee results this way. We will not metagame for information on other characters (though eavesdropping IC will be considered fair game).
   
   If you are interested in using Teatime's services or otherwise setting up a role-play with us, feel free to catch us IC, or contact us OOC via RPC, Discord, or in-game to organize some RP.

Nestled within the Lavender Beds of the Twelveswood with a cliffside at its back and a flowing stream at its entrance is a large mansion in the fifth ward Lavender Northeast subdivision. Once housing a rowdy free company of adventurers, it now serves as the site of the Shroudrose Teahouse and Tavern, a teahouse and upscale bar serving everything from specialty tea blends, to a wide array of spirits, to light meals and snacks.

Main Floor

Just inside the entrance you will find the armoire, where you will be expected to deposit any and all weapons. The main floor features the teahouse of name, where you can enjoy a fresh, piping hot cup of tea with whatever fixings you desire. Ordinary teas of all varieties are available, along with Shroudrose’s specialty loose-leaf blends which can be purchased to enjoy at home, as well as sweets and snacks to go with your tea. You may order whatever you please at the counter to the right of the grand staircase.

Upstairs

Upstairs on the left wing is a tiny, somewhat private room if you like a more quiet and intimate space, as well as two Othardian themed tearooms for those who prefer an eastern flare. On the right wing is a small library with a modest collection of books on all manner of appropriate subjects. Feel free to enjoy a cup of tea as you study or work, or curl up in the book nook loft to lounge in peace and comfort as you enjoy a good read.

Downstairs

Downstairs in the basement is the tavern, where open bar nights boasting of free drinks are often held. The bartenders and waiters are happy to serve some alcohol or a bite to eat. At the back of the tavern is a large stage where performers sometimes put on a show, or you can keep yourself entertained with some tunes from the orchestrion or a match of Triple Triad. Though less seedy than the average alehouse, the tavern offers drinks for even those with strong tastes and small budgets.

Personal Rooms

At the back of the main tearoom between the two sets of stairs is a door leading to a hallway of Shroudrose’s personal rooms as well as our airship workshop. Some of these rooms are offices, some our employees’ private quarters, and some are open facilities. Please read over the notes upon each door, follow any instructions given, and be respectful of our employees’ spaces.

Policies

If you are interested in performing on stage, if you would like to rent any of our space for a public or private event, or if you are interested in making any sort of business arrangement involving our products, please contact Shroudrose proprietress, Lady Faye Covington.

• No weapons past the entryway.
  
• You may be cut off from being served alcoholic beverages if you are overly intoxicated.
  
• You may be held accountable for any property damage.
  
• No illegal or inappropriate activity.
  
• Any guest who is being disruptive in any way may be escorted off the property, forcefully if necessary, and potentially banned either temporarily or permanently.

Come try Shroudrose’s specialty blends of tea! Enjoy a cup in our tearooms on the main floor and second floor (including our far eastern themed rooms), or purchase some to brew at home! You can always cozy up in our library to read or get some work done while you enjoy a cuppa. Snacks and treats will be available to compliment your tea.

Shroudrose Tavern seeks to provide a bar environment that is both casual and refined, where those from all walks of life may gather to enjoy one of our unique cocktails or a bite to eat, and a bit of conversation among friendly company.
