[Suggestion[ Condensing option

I dunno how well this could be implimented, but could we possibly get a condensing ability on retainers? Basically like sort, but it looks at the items stored on every single one.

What I mean is; say retainers tier from first made to last made, and using this option condenses everything upwards (from last retainer to first).

So wyvern wing stacks (for example) on retainer A and retainer D condense onto retainer A, freeing up bag space. I find this would be kinda useful after the increased stack limits recently...

I'm aware I can /itemsearch, but I'd rather have a quicker method...
And probably not useful for those who have a materia retainer, mats retainer, armour retainer, etc etc.. but the option would be nice. xD

I'm not sure if they could actually move the items for you or not, but certainly some sort of "check for duplicate items" search would be useful even if it just told you where the duplicates are so you could rearrange them yourself.

I guess basically it would run an item search on everything in your inventory and only tell you the results if it found the item in more than one place.

That might be something that strains the servers a bit though? Similar to why they've restricted the glamour plate application? (Lots of checks in a short amount of time.) So maybe limited to only being able to do it at the retainer vocate (which would make 'game world' sense as well really).

:thinking: I guess so, can just get a bit confusing when you have 6+ retainers and every crafter at 60+, so you just have so much shit. XD

Ohhh yes, I have everything at Lv50 (while at MSQ Lv61) and my three retainers are crammed full. Not looking forward to however many more items I’ll have by the end of Stormblood.

I don't think the answer is to increase inventory space tbh! the need to decrease the amount of item is required to craft. Though there are people who like to keep everything they have picked up and then there is glamour where players need a dynamic system as I know people who change glamours daily and even have different types depending on the job or mood they are in.

I keep everything I pick up - because at this point I’m sure I’ll need it later! But yes, given the restrictions of their inventory system, the ever-growing amount of crafting ingredients needed for different levels of recipe is quite frustrating.

The only other game I’ve played with such a complex crafting system was the Atelier Iris series, and from memory their inventory was a dedicated item list of all the materials you could possibly obtain in the game. It also allowed for substitution of different items in the same class, which would affect item quality - so you could use any sort of leather in your blacksmithing recipe, or get a quality boost by using nicer cooking ingredients. (It was more “insert ingredients, get result” without the crafting, and the challenge was on quality ingredients and discovering new recipes by substituting critical materials. I preferred it to this game, I think.)

I think with how there's so many problems and difficulties with their inventory system, that something like this would be impossible. I would just use /isearch and just manually stack them altogether.
