What the hell is it with the days before any kind of hotfix update, the game lags

It's ALWAYS on the days before some kind of damn hotfix that lag spikes happen in any instance I join in with more than 4 people total. I almost normally never die in Rabanasty unless it's a wipe, yet today every time a limit break went off the game lagged like a grandmother in molasses in the winter, with me dying when nothing on screen was moving each time.

This ONLY happens when any kind of hotfix is announced as well.

So SE, what the hell causes all these lag spikes whenever you need to fix a 'boo-boo'?
