So, that Spire buff

I've been toying with AST a bit as my crew lacks a knowledgeable player on the job. It was my main in HW, and now that I think I've fully dusted off the Geomancer induced salt, I picked it back up and got my Canopus Lux. Woo!

Anyway, I was wondering if any AST mains have changed their strategies with the Spire duration buff. I've yet to see it pop in a situation I can use it for more than spread fodder.

Anyways, no, I don't think strategies will change at all. Spear is a useful DPS card, while more beneficial to certain classes, it's certainly good to keep it and use it if a Balance or Arrow isn't forthcoming. It's just nice that it's finally aligned with the length of our other cards, which is in turn a buff for it.

Lol, I did mean Spire! But I thought it was the one that had the duration buff, not Spear! I was wondering if the TP increase being extended made a difference to it's use, but did Spear even need a buff? XD

Spea was awkward because it was 20 seconds while Ewer/Spire were 15 and everything else was 30, so I think they just wanted to normalize it. Spire being extended probably wouldn't help much, the fact remains there just isn't enough TP drain going on unless you're AoEing or just got raised.

Well, I may have been a little too critical; I never use it but in theory it could be good.

I think the best use is helping with DPS in dungeons (at least if you never stop to naturally regenerate TP between pulls). As a warrior, I wish I could use the overpower ability endlessly because, well, it is quite over-powered in AOE situations, and is a commonly desired in leveling dungeons. My TP bar is always almost empty from spamming it over and over again. Sadly, when playing AST, it seems my team mates are usually more conservative with their TP so I have no use for it.

Even with only two enemies, overpower does more total damage than a single target attack rotation. With several enemies, the damage difference is very large since it has no down-scaling.

Overpower: 130+130+130 = 390 * 2 targets= 780 damage
Butcher Block combo: 160 + 210 + 300 = 670 damage.

Having more AOE up-time can make a big difference for overall dungeon DPS. The extra TP is not needed in trials but in those sutuations expanding it is very powerful because of the extra party members.

This is not true at all. Try throwing it on a class with crit procs.
