Remove the penalties once a group wipes X times

After a group has wiped 3x in a trial, or 5x in a raid, people should be allowed to leave without taking a penalty.

And why is it only the first person who receives the penalty when leaving, anyway?
If SE wants to keep it, then apply it to all players who abandon a duty, or eliminate it altogether.

Without a penalty, people will leave immediately, thus wasting everyone else's time. That being said, I do think the penalty should apply to more people; upwards of three in eight man content. That way the remaining five aren't held hostage if queues aren't filling up.

People leave regardless and will even if the penalty time is increased and they won’t care if they get a penalty for being the 4th guy leaving either. No one is held hostage by people leaving. If the group isn’t filling you are free to leave with no penalty to queue again.

People who don't want to be there after the first wipe will do everything they can to cause more so they can leave without a penalty. This is also why abandon exists, to vote to disband.

However, to build on your idea, I think a time limit within the instance would be needed too. While some parties can be so bad that they legit can't pass the 30 second mark, this would at least keep away what I mentioned earlier, least to an extent.

or you coiuld vote disband

It's fine the way it is now. If you think a raid isn't gonna be successful either initiate a vote abandon or just leave and eat the 30 minutes penalty since it saves you from potentially being stuck there for the entire lockout
