One house, no alts?

So I have a house, but I have three characters. With the limit to one house, wouldn't it be prudent for SE to make it so that all of my characters can share the same house? If I am missing something I would really like to know. As it stands it is very annoying that I can't use a house on my other two characters due to this new ruling. Especially since I really do enjoy gardening, but hate having to switch back and forth.

I agree, every house should 3 plots. The power disparity between houses and gardening is awful.

I think the main issue that you cannot share stuff with your alts is due to SE want to prevent illegal RMT actions i.e. botting and transfer gil within the same account. That is only my personal belief though. Of course, this is not a solution since botters are in FCs (FC chest).

There is no point simply petition for more wards. What we should petition for is a change in FC housing system (i.e. instanced for unlimited supply). That of course, will be difficult since it is doubtful that extra resources being used for a casual content.

In the case for petitioning for more garden plots: Yoshida mentioned that, to ensure player can render the ward graphics without overloading their system, limited exterior items is enforced. Instead I think we should push for indoor garden plots to allow cross breeding, rather than just rely on flower pots.

SE did blame rmt in the beginning as the reason to completely and utterly sever any relationships between characters on the same account, from housing to inventory and everything in between. Even if every other game in existence has these things shared by account. He blamed rmt outright when asked if we can share a house with our alts.

I place blame at the feet of retainers, if we could share anything between characters that would put a major damper on their monthly extra retainers income. So I believe its just an excuse to make more money while telling us its for our own benefit. Wouldn't put that past Yoshida, he is a businessman first and a gamer never anyway.

Still when it comes to something like sharing a house there is no way rmt would benefit from this at all so that excuse made no sense from the get go. In fact all it did was benefit rmt because I am quite certain some players bought gil to get houses on all their chars.

Good point. I'd max out all 8 alt characters just to save inv space ~

The thing is you could have characters share a house without sharing retainers so that shouldn't stop SE from allowing alts to share houses. The bell is already non-sharable so the only possible concern would be the retainer permit which would just require that each player see its own retainer.

As to RMT if you can't mail things I don't see how sharing a house will allow this. It isn't like the house has a common vault other than the Armoire which is very limited in scope. RMT sellers have easier ways to pass stuff via FCs and the MB.

If you are solo you can't even buy a house now right? Only FC can. That is kind of messed up. Solo players couldn't possibly enjoy a home. I have one myself. And the FC homes in shirogane same ward never have anyone there. They are static. One has changed hands 3x. My friend wanted a house, guess they won't rejoin now.
